South Florida Homes Tagged with Anti-Gay Slurs

It's happening everywhere!

Three homes in Wilton Manors, adjacent to Fort Lauderdale, were tagged by vandals early this morning, the Miami Herald reports:

"Someone wrote the slurs on three adjacent homes in the 2800 block of Northeast Seventh Avenue, an area with a large gay population. Five cars were also defaced with black spray paint. However, Wilton Manors police investigator David C. Jones believes that it was a random attack, as a straight couple live in one of the homes hit. That came as little consolation to Aaron Challancin, who awoke Friday morning to cops knocking on his door. When he walked outside, he saw the slurs. 'There's no reason for this to happen,'' Challancin said. ``We didn't do anything to anyone. We're normal people trying to live normal lives.'"

  2. My guess is some rag tag gang of adolescents are troubled by the fact that they like to watch each other jerk off and have decided to take it out on random/innocent people. For their sake, I hope they're caught and charged before they sneak onto the wrong faggot or breeder's porch and end up dead.

  3. Crap like this is going to continue as more and more gay people live their lives openly. It's a pathetic and impotent attempt to, "put those fags in their place." Well, it's not going to work but I do hope the LGBT takes these attacks seriously and start learning to defend themselves because behavior like this is often a precursor to more bold and violent acts.

  4. Something like this just happened in Tulsa a few days ago.

  5. In a perverse way, vandalism like this is a good thing. This kind of crap only happens when a bigot feels threatened. They're losing, they know they're losing, and the weak ones are acting out because of it. Won't be long now.

And I agree that most of the time, stuff like this is usually done by adolescents who want to create a buzz. It's the old scream-aloud-in-church thing.

  6. Nathan, I'd suggest starting with "BIGOTED ASSHOLE" on Jim Naugle's house. He's done plenty to incite exactly this sort of attack.

  7. As soon as one of these guys blows a hole in the vandals' heads the same people who worship at the altar of the 2nd Amendment will find some way to blame the "fag."

  8. Lately down here in South Florida there has been a rash increase of vandalism like this. But they don't just target gay people. They've sprayed epitaphs Jews and Blacks.

  9. I heard of an incident like this in Phoenix about ten years ago -- 'phobes painted 'GAY!' on their block alley fence... So they went out and added 'DUH!' -- in pink spray paint of course.

  10. The word "gay" is a slur now?

  11. It is unknown at this point who the vandals were or what were the motives, but why would they spray "GAY" rather than "FAG", 'HOMO" or "QUEER"....perhaps the culprit has a thing for political correctness?

  12. Maybe the targets weren't "responsible homosexuals," the only kind the good mayor of Fort Lauderdale approves of. In which case, they deserved it.

  13. Maybe Banksy did it. Then it'd be ok, right?

  14. why only 'gay' why not the worse word 'faggot'/'faggots' and other words and phrases?

I hope this isn't a case of the vandals being withIN the community hoping blame is placed OUTside of it (as has recently happened with jews and blacks) to make a point.

  15. Anyone that has spent any time in an American high school lately can attest to the fact that "gay" is a pejorative term. (I used to be a substitute teacher in a South Florida high school.)

Additionally, according the the Sun Sentinel (Ft Lauderdale's paper), both "gay" and "fag" were spray-painted.,0,1337654.story
