McCain Fires Back on 'Housing' Meme
As Slog notes ("The genesis of the controversy—McCain’s seven or eight houses—is so politically combustible that the ad can’t mention it, so that attack on Obama’s 'housing problem' seems pretty disconnected."), it feels weak. Meanwhile, the meme has struck a chord with viral internet video creators. Here are two more.
The first is a video by Aaron Walker, a senior at an undisclosed college, according to DailyKos, using a popular Feist hit. The second is a Google Earth tour of McCain's homes which the Jed Report produced earlier in the summer which is receiving new attention.
Watch them, AFTER THE JUMP...
And Talking Points Memo published some photos of the Phoenix mansion (as well as an Inside Edition piece on it) the McCain's sold in 2006.
Expect this to be the talk until Obama announces his running mate, which could come any time now:

Obama should know better. What is worse, not immediately remebering which houses you own are listed on your name and which on your wife's name or having purchased your million dollar hour through a convicted fellon?
Hmmm this is a no brainer. This is the kind of stuff that is going to sink our pet rock.

"I agree with HOMER, bring up McKain and Keating- but the difference is, McCain is not claiming to be a different kind of politician- BO is"
The other difference is the sheer scale of the improprieties. The total S&L crisis cost the US taxpayers an estimated $160 billion.
(From wikipedia:)
McCain and Keating had become personal friends following their initial contacts in 1981.[8] Between 1982 and 1987, McCain had received $112,000 in political contributions from Keating and his associates.[14] In addition, McCain's wife Cindy McCain and her father Jim Hensley had invested $359,100 in a Keating shopping center in April 1986, a year before McCain met with the regulators. McCain, his family, and their baby-sitter had made nine trips at Keating's expense, sometimes aboard Keating's jet. Three of the trips were made during vacations to Keating's opulent Bahamas retreat at Cat Cay. McCain did not pay Keating (in the amount of $13,433) for some of the trips until years after they were taken, when he learned that Keating was in trouble over Lincoln.[6][15]
