VP: Who Will it Be?
With Obama VP speculation the question of the moment, I thought I'd ask the question. Who do you think it will be?
The comments line is open...have at it.

My wish would be Hillary Clinton as she is the best candidate for POTUS BUT since that will never happen I am in hopes it is Joe Biden. I have to be honest NO ONE excited me so maybe it will be a name that has not been speculated against and a shock to us all!

The latest thing this morning is maybe Texas Congressman Chet Edwards, who is a Republican in Democrat's clothing, if you ask me. (Why can't we find a way to appeal to the Northeast, Midwest, and West and leave the South out of the equation for once?)

Barney Frank in a surprise move!
Seriously, I think it'll be Joe Biden.

Looks like it'll be Biden, according to all the little DC birdies.
That's a good thing, especially on foreign policy. But Delaware is not exactly a purple state, and there's no reason to think this will help in VA, GA, PA, or OH, which are what really matters.
I was holding out hope for Sebelius, but it's gonna be Biden.

It looks at this moment like it'll probably be Biden. For several weeks I've been thinking that without the voters that Hillary would bring in as VP, all is lost.
But yesterday I read this decent article by Jonathan Alter. It has more than a few worthy points. http://www.newsweek.com/id/154558
Biden is enough of an attack dog to counter the negative McCain ads that, crazily, seem to be working. And he may be able to reel in more than a few Hillary supporters.

I wish it would be Hillary, I could settle for Biden. My guess is it will be someone we have not heard about yet.

well it should be hillary since that's the only chance obama has of winning -- so unless he does that when i look in my crystal ball i see president mcbush triumphant...

Biden, no doubt.

It appears that none of the candidates except Hillary will really put anything into play. Obama has a real problem - inexperience coupled with a big liberal tag. I am not sure anyone really can make the "middle" go for Obama.
Kane is going to be a disaster because it will be "Oh they simply have no track record".
Biden is well respected, but he can have a big mouth and go off script. Does anyone think that people are going to think of this as the Cheney pick?
Let's face facts, there is no VP who has every significantly helped the ticket they were on. This is no different. It is a shame that they didn't put Hillary at the top of the ticket. I think everyone agrees she is relatively moderate -- and she would have won for sure. Obama is either going to win big or he is going to lose pretty solidly. He is a risk - especially when you have to run against McCain. Let's face facts - McCain is likable. He is not a moderate but he is not a religious extremist. A lot of people like that. I find it interesting that if McCain picked a VP like Tom Ridge (pro-choice) that pick might actually help him - because people in the middle would love to see a republican tell the far right that it is not just their party.

I've been sort of hoping for Bill Richardson, but there's no way this country would vote for an African-American and a Latino on the same ticket.

"Let's face facts - McCain is likable. "
He is?

I'm hoping it's Tom Greene. After he got dumped by Drew Barrymore he needs something like this.

McCain is NOT likable by the under-30 crowd. Obama's VP-announcement-by-text-message clearly is meant to draw in that base for support.
Middle-aged Middle America? Yeah, they'll go for McCain. But neither coast, nor anyone under 30.

It's a toss up between Biden and Clinton. Yes, for as much as I could not stand her politicking, I think Hillary would be a phenomenally strong VP.
I come from an old AFL/CIO family, and Joe Biden is for labor. He would be great to help get that part of the economy rolling.

It needs to be Biden. He's a big help with Obama's alleged "not enough experience" issue. He's going to negate a lot of McCain's foreign experience advantage. He's tough and will do a great job ripping back at McCain with one-liners that will resonate with the voters. (Sadly, a lot of people respond better to a good rip than to a discussion of the issues.)

I think Obama is reserving Biden for Secretary of State, if anything.
Seems to me Kaine or Sebelius. I think he will pick the former, though I would prefer the latter.

Maybe, but good luck getting the under-30 crowd to the voting booth.
Hoping I'm wrong ...

He's definitely going to pick some hot, bi babe in order to reinforce the INSIDIOUS LIBERAL BISEXUAL DOUBLE STANDARD!
Posted by: 24play | Aug 22, 2008 1:21:25 PM
I am hoping he will pick a candidate with the decency to avoid the ubiquitous online acronym 'POTUS.' When did this become okay?
I think I would prefer Sebelius, but all signs and prognosticators are apparently pointing to Biden, and that would be fine.

Evan Bayh. Im surprised Im the first one saying his name. No question about it. Bayh.

Paris Hilton. I liked her oil policy.
Seriously, Biden was always my first choice for POTUS so that would thrill me.
It is starting to piss me off, however that we havent heard yet. What's the fucking hold up?

Biden.
He's so popular in eastern Pennsylvania and south Jersey, Barack won't have to spend much money here. He can spend more money in Ohio & Michigan where he'll need to.
Biden doesn't just brong little Delaware. He guarantees Pennylvaina & New Jersey which should be Democratic anyway, but this is not the year to take the mid-Atlantic states for granted.
'Course I'm a little Biden biased, I guess.
