Elizabeth Taylor Appears at Macy's Passport HIV/AIDS Benefit

Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor took the stage at the Macy's Passport show last night in Los Angeles. Taylor lifted the HIV/AIDS benefit to a new level when she first declared her support and appeared in it in 1987.

In mid-September she made her first public appearance since reports that her health situation was dire and she had been on life support. She had a few drinks at West Hollywood gay bar The Abbey.

Even though her capacity for giving speeches is fading, she's still out there fighting. Bless her.

Watch her remarks, AFTER THE JUMP...

  4. Speaking of celebs fighting for their causes, I am happy to report that Ellen has finally joining the California proposition war and will be holding a fundraiser.

What's that? Ellen's shindig is not to fight Prop 8 which would ban gay marriage equality? It's for Prop 2 which is about the treatment of farm animals??????

You mean there's 76-yr. old Liz, only able to get about via wheel chair or people literally lifting her from here to there, showing up to, yet again, help fight AIDS when she's not gay herself, very unlikely to be personally exposed to it except possibly during one of her many surgeries, but she's out there? And gazillionaire Ellen can even bother to write a check? The Ellen who can have her own totally legal wedding, a right won for her by OTHERS, and yet the most she can do is plug it a couple of times on her show, between doing her intentionally stupid dance, hawking someone else's latest cinematic distraction from reality, and, who could forget, welcoming two of the Bush women as if they weren't connected to the worst President we've ever had, an unindicted war criminal, or when she's not having an on-air nervous breakdown over a puppy, or canceling her show for a day because she's so distraught over ITS saga, or mentioning 8 on her blog between the recipes and lame jokes? THAT Ellen?

It's a sad day in Mudville when Mary Cheney has given more to fight Prop 8 than everyone's gay icon Ellen.

  8. The first time i saw Mrs Taylor i was amazed. Drawn to here for some unknown reason. Bordering on infatuation. Growing up and understanding sexuality she was still there saying it was OK to be Gay Understanding about her and Montgomery Cliff. With all this she was not Gay but did Defend those who were. Opening herself to attack. Not even the vultures in the press dared confront her. I almost wish they had to watch her put them in there place with there own lack of confidence in there own sexuality as their motive.

Put in your mind your dreams and let your mind guide you i did. The timing was perfect as i saw her in the Lake Geneva airport. In cognito but there was no doubt to me it was her. As i approached and introduced myself she was like you are the only person who has recognized me. We can get on the plane and talk we did and it was the highlight of my life.

Gay and Lesbian people need Saints.
I personally appoint and canonize (Even thou i do not have Prada shoes or special
    fur.) but i hereby proclaim

    Mrs Elizabeth Taylor.

Patron Saint of all thoes brave enough to be different and proud
