Garbage's Shirley Manson Makes TV Debut as Men's Urinal

Manson_2

I'm not a regular watcher of this show, and missed this last week, but the clip is pretty slick. Garbage's Shirley Manson made quite an entrance last week as the newest cast member of Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles. The show airs Monday nights.

Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. There has always been something a little robotic about her. Except for the music video for "The World Is Not Enough" - that wasn't robotic enough (watch a youtube clip to see the irony).

Just as well she can sing.

  2. I'll never understand why or how people get their jollies watching other people getting killed.

  3. Ugh. She was actually total crap on the show. Can't act her way out of a paper bag and has truly awful skin (You'd think a shape-shifting terminator might as well have a nice complexion).

Also, she was dressed poorly and had some of the worst dialogue on a show who's scripts aren't it's greatest strength, though these problems aren't her fault.

  4. I *LOVE* Shirley!! I agree with Tim though, seems like the acting isn't quite her thing (though I didn't see the whole show, just this clip).

  5. I love Garbage (or at least their first couple of CDs), and love the idea of Shirley, but the urinal gave a better performance in that first episode than she did. She wasn't the least bit convincing as an intimidating tech CEO (who turns out to be one of those shape-changing Terminator types). In an interview with KROQ here in L.A. she said the crew has been saying she's getting better each and every day and I think she understood that her acting technique wasn't very advances.

  6. That was one of the best plot twists in the show. Maybe because of the odd choice of hiding as a urinal.

That said, yeah, I love Shirley but this role should soooo have gone to someone else. (She and the show runner Josh Friedman's wife are longtime BFF's.)

  7. Love love love her. Y'all are vicious. 'Truly awful skin,' Joseph go suck it. She was great on the show (and only on it for like 1 minute which is not long enough to judge anyway) and looks even better. She plays a robot for Christ's sakes not like she's trying to play Medea. Besides if you didn't see the show, you can't talk. And her solo albumm, if warner bros. ever releases it, is going to be amazing. Haters stop hatin.

  8. Shirley is a great musician, but this show is bullshit sci fi crap. People are lazy to call this entertainment. Fake reality was invented to turn people into sheep and make them scared.

  9. I've started watching this this year. She actually made a brief appearance the week before this episode. I don't think the "mechanical" characters are supposed to be great orators. Oh dear, things are looking bad for cute little John Connor!
