Murphy and Noonan Say How They Really Feel About Sarah Palin
Talking Points Memo picked up on this conversation caught on a live mic after Republican pundits Peggy Noonan and Mike Murphy thought they were off the air with MSNBC host Chuck Todd.
Here's a short transcript. Longer one at TPM. Watch (and listen), AFTER THE JUMP...
PN: It's over.
MM: Still McCain can give a version of the Lieberman speech to do himself some good.
CT: I also think the Palin pick is insulting to Kay Bailey Hutchinson, too.
PN: Saw Kay this morning.
CT: Yeah, she's never looked comfortable about this --
MM: They're all bummed out.
CT: Yeah, I mean is she really the most qualified woman they could have turned to?
PN: The most qualified? No! I think they went for this -- excuse me-- political bullshit about narratives --
CT: Yeah they went to a narrative.
MM: I totally agree.
PN: Every time the Republicans do that, because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at, they blow it.
MM: You know what's really the worst thing about it? The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical.
CT: This is cynical, and as you called it, gimmicky.
MM: Yeah.
Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

Total repub kool-aid drinker
Mike murphy
Repub consultant to John mccain and a dozen other repubs
LOL
The kool-aid drinkers know it is all over for repubs this election cycle and Palin is the worse possible vp pick.

AIP secessionist Alaskan Indipendence party fact round up. Stay up to date on this scandal, it is the killer
1- mccain campaign admits Palin attended 2000 convention of anti-american secessionist (treasonous) group AIP
2- Video tape of Palin not just attending but speaking at the 2008 AIP convention.
3-Lynette Clark and other witness have NOT retracted their statments that Palin attended the AIP convention in 1994 and spoke to the AIP Convention on multiple occasions
4- longtime members of the AIP viewed her association with that party to be such that they assumed she was a AIP registered voter
5- The 1st Dude/ husband ....was registered as an AIP voter on his voter registration from 1995-2002 (7 yrs) and registered as an indie during her run for her 1st political position =mayor of tiny wasilla
She is affiliated with a secessionist group whose founder said "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government...and I won't be buried under their damn flag." - Joe Vogler, Founder of the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP) amongst other anti-american rhetoric
A strong USA is the 50 state UNION. Not the lower 49 and the indipendent country of alaskastan

Are these planted?
I dunno, Repubs are pretty dirty. maybe they planned it so to exacerbate the perceived liberal elitist attitude towards Palin.

I wish all of those cable channels would just broadcast "live mic"... no more spin, just what people really think. I can't wait to see how they try to dig themselves out of this with their party colleagues. I mean, did you read Noonan's latest in the WSJ? She's full of praise for Palin.
Posted by: Dan | Sep 3, 2008 6:28:53 PM
I always wondered if these Republicans really believed the BS they were spewing. Now I know the answer: no. Which makes them worse in my book. They know they are hurting people and doing damage to the country, but they keep pushing their agenda. Bunch a douchebags...

*How can republicans even speak anymore with all the feet in their mouths?*
Mr. E, you made me laugh! Thanks!
... and just wait; they'll show us how, probably momentarily.
Moments ago, I spoke at length on the phone with an old friend who is Republican about her take on the Palin pick. Without stating my opinion, I asked for hers. She said that for her, it was the moment McCain lost the election. She said it speaks to his judgment, and that she can't vote for someone who would be a "maverick" about important decisions. She doesn't want someone this reckless with his finger "on the button." This, coming from a former military intelligence officer.

Extra info on AIP
there is no doubt that her husband was a member for 7 yrs. mccain camp admits she did speak to them at their convention.
AIP founder died in plastic explosive buy gone bad.

plastic explosives= american home grown terrorist group
noonan is right, but probably for different reasons
"its over!"

I envision an Obama/Biden television commercial using this transcript/tape. I think lots of Republicans, even if they couldn't bring themselves to vote for Obama/Biden might not vote for McCain (stay home) if they really understood how cynical McCain's choice of Palin is. I thought we had hit rock bottom with Dan Quayle.

@Jimiboyo
Hyperventilating about Palin's alleged attendance at a secessionist meetin? Well ho ho Boyo, guess what I guess you forgot and needs some repeating. Obama attended a church for twenty years and befriended the pastor who preached black liberation theology. In other words the religious equivalent of the black panther party. "Kill Whitey" is a good summation of the dogma they follow. And guess what Jimmyboyo, leftist, Obama is running for president, not VP.

BS Vi
Rev wright was a cardiopulmonary technician at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland where he was assigned as part of the medical team charged with aftercare of President Lyndon B. Johnson for his 1966 surgery. Before leaving the position in 1967, the White House awarded Wright three letters of commendation.
Count them= 3 commendations from the white house. Far far far from a black panther esque background especially since the secret service would have vetted him
-------------------------------------
Wright's "Goddamn America"
As a white gay man, I have said the same exact thing many a time. Doesn't mean I want to lead a state into secession.
Any sane person (non LCR) can understand how a Black man in america could feel anger at their county. Wright with many valid reasons to be angry at his country served his country!!!!!!!!!!!! in the military and in the medical aftercare of a US president. Never ever once trying to promote let alone lead a state into rebellious secession from the union.
There is a huge difference between the anger of a citizen at their country and Palin's Husband and most likely herself wanting to be part of a group that wishes to secede from the union.

@jimiboyo
More evidence in the response that you don't know who you are supporting for president. I didn't say Wright WAS a black panther. I said the theology he preaches is LIKE, politically, the black panther party. Do a wikipedia search on Cone and the Black Liberation Theology that WRIGHT DOES PREACH. See what I'm talking about before you make a bigger fool out of yourself than you already have, wigger.
Posted by: Vi Agara | Sep 3, 2008 9:20:23 PM
Vi
calling me a "wigger"
WOW
The reason why you are always defending the repub point of view is unmasked. You are a racist.
But, if you want to be accurate in your hate of anything non repub wasp, call me a "mick- kike" Majority Irish with some Jews in my family tree
Enjoy the country club while it lasts because you guys have lost per "sainted" reagan speech writer Noonan
Posted by: Jimmyboyo | Sep 3, 2008 9:44:09 PM
Hmmm, I'm not sure how Qualcomm would feel about your bigoted rhetoric, VI AGARA.
Posted by: Jason (A) | Sep 3, 2008 10:00:11 PM
VI, be careful about bringing up the issue of Obama's former pastor. You might not want to go there right now. It seems that Mrs. Palin has some very serious pastor/church problems of her own (past AND present) coming to light.
Posted by: Joe | Sep 3, 2008 11:09:27 PM
Re: JIMBOYO's AIP "facts": Wish it were true about Palin and the AIP, but apparently there's a counterfeit site up and the real AIP site (akip.org) says that Palin's never been involved (though her husband once registered but wasn't active).
Posted by: David R. | Sep 3, 2008 11:46:53 PM
Noonan explained herself in her column. You should correct this posting as it is inaccurate. Just sayin...
Posted by: kilo | Sep 4, 2008 12:18:31 AM
Vi Agra = asshole, bigot, racist and probably not even gay. I'm beginning to believe that some of these posters are GOP minnows.
Jimboyo - good for you for bringing out the true nature of republicans: racist, homophobic bigots, for the most part, or the people who love them.
Posted by: echovic | Sep 4, 2008 2:29:48 AM
@KILO,
is correcting yourself vs. what you actually said now the new standard? piggy noonan has forever been a smarmy bitch who "publicly" says what benefits her personally.

Uh, Kilo, there's nothing at all inaccurate about this post. Her "explanation" as you put it, was pure "barnyard epithet, and only a partial explanation at that. Just sayin'.
Posted by: Ryan | Sep 4, 2008 12:22:40 PM
Although I am an Independent with leanings toward the Democratic Party, I have to agree with the above poster who stated that Obama's pastor, Rev. Wright, did spew "kill whitey" rhetoric for years. It doesn't matter what his job was or who he operated on or what award he was given - the fact is that he is a black supremist. Obama and wife listened to his hate-filled sermons for years. Fact, Fact, Fact. Even the "liberal media" has no problem reporting this Fact.
Oh, and another thing...Obama isn't even eligible to be president as he wasn't born in the USA. There is a coverup to his actual birth location which is, in fact, somewhere outside of this country.
Most gays should be supporting Dr. Ron Paul anyway. I don't understand all this gloating for a two-party-system that is very broken.
Posted by: Charles Sternaimolo | Sep 4, 2008 2:22:07 PM
Don't you think if Obama were ineligible to run for office McCain would have mentioned it by now?
Posted by: anon | Sep 4, 2008 6:16:41 PM
Excuse me Charles, but if you are gonna dig up that Rev Wright bullshit again, then provide proof that he "spewed kill whitey rhetoric for years." Up to now, no one has provided proof of this, so here's your chance. Where are the transcripts of his yearly sermons that, when read IN CONTEXT, prove that he preached "kill whitey?" Put up or shut up.
Posted by: soulbrotha | Sep 4, 2008 11:03:45 PM
I love how Charles talks about "facts", then assures us of some "cover-up" regarding Obama's birthplace, all the while offering zero evidence of such a cover-up. But he's an "Independent" Yeah sure, buddy.
Posted by: Ryan | Sep 5, 2008 12:26:37 AM
Charles is probably just Vi Agara anyway. Same tone in his writing. I'm curious as to why Noonan's explanation in her column (something she can be pragmatic with) is to be considered more valid than her accidental, from the hip candid conversation. The woman was a speech writer. And everyone knows that a talent for political speech writing involves exaggerration, damage-control, and inspirational appeals to the audience.
