Sarah Palin's Wasilla Church Promotes "Ex-Gay" Conference
Over the weekend the MSM picked up on some news that was reported last week in Time magazine, that the "ex-gay" conference called 'Love Won Out' was being promoted by Palin's own church, which printed an ad for the conference in its church program:
"At the 11:15 a.m. Sunday service, hundreds sit in folding chairs, listening to a 20-minute sermon about the Book of Malachi and singing along to alt-rock praise songs. The only sign of culture warring in the whole production is an insert in the day's program advertising an upcoming Focus on the Family conference on homosexuality in Anchorage called Love Won Out. The group promises to teach attendees how to "respond to misinformation in our culture" and help them "overcome" homosexuality."
On Friday, the AP added it to its list of items the media may be waiting to ask Palin about: "Focus on the Family, a national Christian fundamentalist organization, has scheduled the "Love Won Out" Conference for Sept. 13 in Anchorage, about 30 miles from Wasilla. Palin, campaigning with McCain in the Midwest on Friday, has not publicly expressed a view on the so-called 'pray away the gay' movement. Larry Kroon, senior pastor at Palin's church, was not available to discuss the matter Friday, said a church worker who declined to give her name."
According to the AP, the bulletin said of the conference: "You'll be encouraged by the power of God's love and His desire to transform the lives of those impacted by homosexuality."
Palin needs to be asked about what her positions are on "curing" homosexuality through the kind of discredited Christian therapy programs this group promotes. It's not looking like they're going to get that chance very soon. More on that in a bit.
Last week I posted some video of Palin speaking at the Assemblies of God church, her childhood church, which showed how close evangelical Christianism is getting to the White House. I also posted a list highlighting Palin's anti-gay record.
AFTER THE JUMP, the first part of a documentary on Sarah Palin's churches.
WATCH IT...
The HuffPost writes: "Sarah Palin's churches are actively involved in a resurgent movement that was declared heretical by the Assemblies of God in 1949. This is the same 'Spiritual Warfare' movement that was featured in the award winning movie, "Jesus Camp," which showed young children being trained to do battle for the Lord. At least three of four of Palin's churches are involved with major organizations and leaders of this movement, which is referred to as The Third Wave of the Holy Spirit or the New Apostolic Reformation."

The reason Palin hasn't commented on much of anything is the idiot won't give any press interviews! So far, she's hardly taken any questions from ANYONE. When it does happen, watch for hand-picked reporters with pre-screened questions and scripted answers.
Hmm, who (BUSH) does that (BUSH) remind me of...?

All this information coming out about Mrs. Palin's stance on gays is really for our benefit, right? We;;, that and to make the LRC look even more silly within our community.
Because the MM and the straight voting public, con and liberal, does not give a shit about her position on gay issues. We've been shoved way to the back of the bus now...if not completely off the bus.
Here anti-gay position appeals to their base. This is a positive for her, not a negative.
As for being info that should motivate, outrage or scare OUR base...it doesn't. This lady has the dems nervous. VERY nervous. And we are seeing the first examples of Sen. Obama being willing to pull hard to the center and sacrifice us.
Nobody outside the gay community gives a shit that she is anti-gay.

Actually Mike, the friends and family members of GLBT people care.

Mike, the vast majority of straight people in my community (Madison, WI) care very deeply about Palin's anti-gay political leanings. Sometimes they care even more deeply than I do.
Don't sell straight people short. They're not all assholes.

Christian people DO care about gays and about the gay culture and things that are going on. If you understood that it was a spirit you would understand that you do not have to live this way. I am so thankful to GOD that HE is bringing some strong Christians back to the WHITE HOUSE!!!!

THE QUEEN, dear heart, now won't you please reconsider your "open-minded" feelings for this bitc...I mean, this woman. She is a vicious right-wing conservative. She is no friend of the women's movement, the black civil rights movement, the rights of immigrants, the gay rights movement, nor the Bette Davis Society for Liberation of Queens.
She is an ungrateful bitch to the women's movement which made it possible for her ungrateful ass to be anything but a former beauty queen (very faded beauty).
Is my language misogynistic? sexist? How can a gay queen that doesn't give a shit about being masculine, doesn't give a shit about trying to be superior to women be a misogynist? I've met gay males like that, and they are despicable creatures (putting down women). But ME? No.--with me and Palin... it's bitch to bitch.
Oh, what was I trying to say...oh, THE QUEEN, please, Sarah Palin is not your friend. Even in her heyday she was never as beautiful as you...were.

Matt,
You're correct. I do not have to live my life as a happy, openly gay man. Instead, I could do like you and live my life miserably hiding in the closet trying to denying the person God and genetics made me to be.
If you want to lie to yourself, by all means do so, but don't foist your lies on the rest of us.

So did Obama's Minister of Hate, the Most Extremely Reverend (and former gay) Donnie McClurkin who hosted Obama’s string of southern revival meetings masquerading as political rallies.
These bigots infest both parties. James Dobson is sitting in his office in Colorado Springs smirking because now he has two parties to play with. We’re the only losers in all this.

Matt,
Shut the fuck up.

Larry Kroon and Palin's church have also played host to David Brikner. Brikner is the leader of "Jews for Jesus"... an organization that proselytizes to Jews!
WTF?? And the Republican Jewish Community (an actual organization, not me generalizing) supports her wholeheartedly. Not-to-mention, Leiberman is coaching her on foreign policy right now. All the while, her church (if not directly trying, at least) supports attempting to convert Jews to Christianity?!
This woman is the freaking anti-christ.

RP
The same "jews for jesus" (crazyness) guy said at Palin's church that the recent palestinian bulldozer attacks on Israeli citizens was god's judgment.
Add in her being a former Buchanan girl. Buchanan himself admitted on MSNBC TV that she and her husband held a fund raiser for his prez run. Buchanan who thinks only a few thousand Jews at most died in the Holocaust...etc
She hates us gays, she hates Jews, per anecdotal evidence from Alaska she hates brown people, her stands on women issues = hates women.
The only people she seems to like are white, ultra xtian, alaskan (Hubby definetlly member of AKIP for 7 yrs and she spoke to them) repubs

Maybe Donnie McClurkin can host a joint political rally for Obama and Palin.

miss derrick, i know that i have upset many people here with my comments about la palin but she fascinates me and i watch and try to read everything about her i can... when asked about homosexuality she said it was not for her to judge... interesting, let's see what transpires....

She is fascinating, like a train wreck: hard to look away. But as soon as things calm down and people start talking issues again, she'll look like the puppet she is.
