Jim Naugle Leads Florida Democrats Against Same-Sex Marriage

The headline "Democratic group backs gay-marriage ban in Florida Constitution" was a bit shocking until I saw that the group was being lead by Fort Lauderdale's head anti-gay pig Jim Naugle:

Naugle"Outside the Stephen P. Clark Government Center in downtown Miami, where the group of Democrats rallied, some held signs that read, 'Yes 2 Marriage,' while others clutched Bibles. Nathaniel Wilcox, executive director of People United to Lead the Struggle for Equality, known as PULSE, was among the supporters, saying the institution of marriage must be saved. 'We must not sell our moral values to placate others,' he said. The group insists its push isn't about targeting homosexuals, though they said they oppose gay marriage. Naugle, a lifelong Democrat known to back Republicans, has a history of riling the gay community in Fort Lauderdale. In recent years, he has made blunt, and often critical statements about his support of a $250,000 single-occupancy toilet on the beach that he said would reduce gay sex in public restrooms. He later opposed moving the Stonewall Library, a collection of gay-themed materials, into a city building. Still, he contends his support for Amendment 2 has nothing to do with homosexuals. 'It's about defending the institution of marriage, which should be defined as between one man and one woman,' he said."

  2. Andy, why is it "a bit shocking" that there are democrats that back gay marriage bans? As usual, we hear what we want to hear. Obama does NOT agree with gay marriage as he states:

"I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."

"Giving them a set of basic rights would allow them to experience their relationship and live their lives in a way that doesn't cause discrimination," Obama said. "I think it is the right balance to strike in this society."

When I hear "giving THEM a set of basic rights" I get just as angry as most gays get when they hear McCain say that he does not agree with gay marriage. NEITHER party is stepping up to defend gay marriage!

If Obama wins, I will hold him, Pelosi and everyone here that has bashed me for being a repub accountable for giving me the ONLY thing that Obama can provide me: GAY RIGHTS! Beyond that, Obama offers me nothing but I will insist that the dems do what everyone here says they will; give me gay rights. I will not hold my breath.

  3. I wonder who else is asking for civil marriage equality? They say they're not Anti-Gay with this "protection" of marriage stuff, it's not about Gay-Americans yet they never say who they are protecting marriage from. Oh you mean they really ARE bigots, oh never mind.

  4. He doesn't want us to get married, but he doesn't want us cruising bathrooms either, there's just no satisfying this freak!

  5. Huh, at least he's honest about it. Makes it easier to deal with than these closet haters who hide behind the DNC and talk about "civil Unions" instead so they don't appear homophobic.

  6. Aww, he's grumpy cause he just wants some guy to stuff his man-cunt. Seriously, he should try to pass a ban on divorce.

  7. I wonder if he gets any money from the DNC to run...certainly would be at odds with their agenda wouldn't it? Naturally every one of the usual suspects will come out swinging now talking about the Republicans hating gays but doesn't it make more sense to make sure your own support you first?

  8. If we fail in California and Amendment 8 passes, the issue is going to be forced once and for all, because the way the ruling was written it was based upon the Equal Protection clause. You can't start punching holes in that with bizarre hateful amendments. The only way the will succeed is to put something on the ballot which says gay folk aren't entitled to Equal Protection. At that point, everyone will be forced to face the truth that they simply hate gay people and consider us 2nd class citizens. Right now, everyone is hiding behind the haze of "marriage".

  9. "Democratic group backs gay-marriage ban in Florida Constitution"

There are many democrats that don't want gay-marriage as there are many republicans that either don't care and are pushing for it. The problem is that you look at the world as black and white - its not dude.

Saying that - this guy is and always has been - a complete idiot.

  11. Who died and made Jim Naugle Queen?

As far as I am concerned, Jim can just go back to his gay bars and continue to secretly do his drag shows.

  12. I sat in a conference room full of right-wing preachers and Jim Naugle and listened to him participate in a plan to run all gay people out of Ft. Lauderdale. When he says it's not about gay people, he is a liar. He is simply a homophobe who uses religious cloaks to mask his hatred of our community. I spoke out against him at a press conference on the steps of city hall in hundred degree heat because he wouldn't let us speak from under the portico where it was at least in the shade. Yet during the meeting I attended, he agreed to let the anti-gay crowd use city hall rooms to further meetings to carry out this agenda. I said then, and I'll say again, he is planning on a state level campaign at some point using the backs of the gay community as a jump off point.
