Donna Brazile: We are Not Going Back, We are Going Forward

Brazile_2An amazing speech by Donna Brazile from her appearance at the recent New Yorker Festival:

"Let the next 31 days be about idea, about inspiration, and about strength of character. Let it be about something that brings us together, not tears us apart..."

Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. Wise words from the closeted lesbian Brazile.

  2. We're a more progressive society where she won't talk about her sexuality. Forgive me Donna if I'm not moved by your appeal.

    Posted by: Mike | Oct 9, 2008 1:56:01 PM

  3. Well, actually, JOHN, she aint exactly putting on a super fem act. She seems kinda' "real" to me...ya' know, like the late great Barbara Jordan.

I could easily see Donna saying, "I don't need no damn man." ... wish I could.

  4. I'm gay, male, white AND Canadian and damn if she didn't bring tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat. I've always been a fan of her insight and political expertise, but I'm now a fan of HER. What an amazing, moving speech.

  5. OMG, how about let be about rainbows, unicorns, and skipping through magic meadows too? Is this what the next four years are going to be like? Jesus Christ I need a drink...and the classifieds for a cabin in Montana to hunker down and wait for the end of Democracy.

Posted by: Las Vegas | Oct 9, 2008 2:05:17 PM

  6. Want to see the end of democracy, Vegas? Let the Republicans have the reins for another 4 years. They've done so very well with our republic over the last decade.

Maybe a little group hug and spirit-lifting kum-ba-ya is just what we need in this tough time. I seem to recall that America has a unique ability to use those techniques to buck up during past crises.

That said, I might join you in that drink.

  7. You mean Idaho, Las Vegas. That's where all the other white supremacists hunker down.

  8. You have to respect Donna. I was pretty down on her during the primary season as she was pretty down on Hillary supporters. I actually got into an email back and forth with her. We agreed to disagree, but how cool is it that she answers her own email - even did it with her blackberry.

  9. I LOVE my Donna Brazile!!!

    Posted by: Ron | Oct 9, 2008 2:18:34 PM

  10. @John In Manhattan

What has her sexuality got to do with her wisdom? Are closeted lesbians supposed to be dumb or something? Seems like you're trying to compliment and tear down at the same time. What's THAT about?

    Posted by: soulbrotha | Oct 9, 2008 2:25:53 PM

  11. Powerful stuff, good for her for telling it like it is. As for her not being "out" her sexuality, just like everyone who posts here is her business. As long as she and others are not gay bashing, I for one don't need to know who, when and how they get their freak on in the privacy of their homes, but then again, I didn't know or really ever think about it that Rachel Maddow was gay. Otherwise, I would be as hypocrite as the GOP and the so called Christians and their noses in other peoples bedrooms.

  12. Don't misunderstand me. I love what Donna Brazile said. I just think she's an asshole who doesn't practice what she preaches. Read and learn: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/4/13/17299/3193

Brazile is just as bad as anti-gay Leah "marriage = one man, one woman" Daughtry, the Chief of Staff of the DNC and part-time babbling pentacostal minister. (Yeah, read that one again. Unfuckingbelievable, right?) One would think that these two black females would know enough about discrimination not to throw gay folks under the bus, yet they do.

  13. Donna Brazile, gay?

    Never occurred to me.

    Posted by: banjiboi | Oct 9, 2008 3:39:42 PM

  14. Poor LUKE, he thinks that being gay is defined by how one gets "their freak on" in their home. Focus On My Anus could use you, son.

  15. I always assumed she was Out! How can anyone be surprised? So she doesn't talk about it. She doesn't have to. It's so obvious--it is right there for all to see.

  17. You ALL sound like you're making a guest appearance on The View.

Her message is (obviously) more important than her sexuality, which is frankly her business alone.

Obama should appoint her some cabinet post when he wins.

  19. I'm with Steven & Derrick,I would switch teams for Donna, fuck ya'll!

She was talking about HER experiences, her past, her culture. I have never seen her have sex with anyone. I have always thought she was a lesbian, but I have never heard her acknowledge that. She may not be gay!
Lighten up! She also was calling on folks to take the high road until election day. Something all of us ought to consider.

LV, you need to have a bowel movement or get laid, hon. You are just
    too bitter!

    Posted by: Rocco | Oct 9, 2008 4:19:10 PM

  20. So who wants the bowel movement because most of you are just waiting to get shit on by the Democrats again...so I figure you all must into that.

Posted by: Las Vegas | Oct 9, 2008 4:46:25 PM

  21. "I could easily see Donna saying, "I don't need no damn man." ... wish I could."

Derrick, my dahling, you NEVER want to say that, even in jest...

  22. What is closeted? Everyone knew that Neil Patrick Harris was Gay. It wasn't big news to most people when he came out. I've never heard Donna Brazille talk about her personal life which doesn't mean that she's in the closet. At work I hardly ever talk about my life at home but I'm not in the closet.

    Posted by: DB | Oct 9, 2008 6:23:14 PM

  23. To the stupid old queens on here and their comments...This Speech isn't about her sexuality or lgbt...IT IS ABOUT RACE & OBAMA...so stay focus and don't open your mouths if YOU GOT NOTHING TO SAY....

I believe her speech was welll said and thought out....It is true If you work hard to put yourself in school and finish...why should people try to tear you down??? republicans and the radical racists are way off track. and some old queens on here are just plain and simple idiots...I'm ashamed of you

  24. Thank you for introducing me to this amazing woman -- Donna Brazile. I may just have to vote for her.

  25. Donna Brazile is not in the closet btw.
