Ashton Kutcher on Prop 8: That it's on the Ballot is 'Ridiculous'

Ashton Kutcher appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher last night. They discussed Prop 8.
Kutcher: "We founded this country rebelling from a country that refused to separate church and state. The fact that Proposition 8 is even on the ballot is ridiculous! I don't care what your spiritual religious beliefs are. It should not interfere with our government and our ability to do things through the government, ever. It's unconstitutional."

Good points, both of them (the Episcopalian was right -- in the Bible divorce is much worse, thus all religious pro-8-ers are hypocrites).
Nice one.

Mmmm. Ashton just went up 3 notches on my sexiness scale, dangerously close to Jake...

Excellent points by both.
Just got back from a Prop. 8 rally in Kansas City. Very energizing. Great support from some local straight politicians. Not a single negative response, as far as I could tell, from passersby.
We have justice, fairness, and love on our side.

What's going on with that odd exchange between Ashton Kutcher and Dan Savage ?
They don't seem to like each other very much.
And I'm surprised Bill didn't put a stop to it. He's usually such a Nazi about members of the panel interrupting a satellite interview.

Dan Savage burns bridges.

Ashton's marvelous.
Just back from a very full day here in L.A. The protest downtown was INCREDBLE. Thosands of people, tons of them young gays and lesbians. And you know what?
THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT!
They know what they're doing and why, and the sheer joy they're experiencing in declaring themselves and fighting back is infectious. I'm really really happy.

"They know what they are doing and why" - love that!

There's not much more that I can add to what's been said, the Minister & Ashton were both right with excellent speaking points. "Ashton's cuter"
Beyond that we were downtown (Dayton) with the rally supporting Gay civil rights, it was great, here in Ohio it was pouring cold rain and snow, but lots of people showed up and much more stopped and listened.
Never give up!

First, we must fight for our rights. I always thought that the way forward is going to be in the courtroom. Thats where we'd be smart to start using our nfluence right now. Pay attention to the court appointments in your districts and nationally. When appointments approach, investigate and don't be shy about contacting your representatives. Remember Clarence Thomas? Well Senator Biden put him there so be on your toes.
Second, its a myth that this country was founded on the separation of church and state. That is in the constitution, but the first settlers came here to enact their religious views apart from those of England and they were just as bad or worse. Remember the Puritans? Our way forward is in the courtroom. Watch the judges.

Between Dan Savage and Ashton Kutchner? Dan Savage once put it out there in his syndicated column that his greatest sexual fantasy was to squirt all over Ashton Kutchner's face. So yes, perhaps Kutchner might have been less than welcoming in Savage's presence.

Also, I believe Dan also said that Ashton had a mouth that could suck a cock sideways...so I don't think they're likely to be besties anytime soon.

Can't say Ashton is the most articulate person to speak out against Prop. 8, but God! His passion and outrage are impressive!

John in Ca
You are totally misreading them.
Savage has a crush on ashton and has writen about it. Ashton played along in a totally funny way. Mentioning Savage writing about a bunch of people he would invite to dinner and ashton being offended because he would be invited only based on his looks. (not sure how real this part is/was) Ashton writing to him in response and believing Savage didn't believe the letter was from ashton and the whole "I'll never date you" because savage's response was mean= fake shock and anger was hilarious.

I'm with Jimmyboyo. The exchange between Savage and Ashton was one of the most hilarious gay/str8 interactions I've seen on TV. It was quite encouraging that Ashton felt comfortable enough to be just as bitchy back to Savage (and I'm a big Dan Savage fan - I think he thought it was hilarious too). It was all in fun.

Ashton grew by leaps and bounds in my estimation. beside his fierce objection to prop H8, his idea that Exxon-Mobile, etc., should bail out the auto industry is on target. they have been working hand-in-glove with each other for decades, after all. add Halliburton, Cheney, Bush, the hedge-funding money changers, and the K-street pimps and we might have an unholy admixture that by some miracle of alchemy might produce something good that will not require blue-collar americans to contribute to.
