Clueless MSNBC Host Mike Barnicle: Where the Gays Live

Barnicle

In a continuation of his Hardball guest-hosting gig, MSNBC's Mike Barnicle says that if you took Cambridge MA, Georgetown DC, Upper West Side NY, Santa Monica and San Francisco, CA, out of the Rick Warren debate, it would basically be over, because that's apparently where all the gays who are angry live.

Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. One would hardly expect Matthews to pick a sub that makes him look bad by comparison, no?

  2. Mike Barnicle WAS ONCE an editorial writer for the Boston Globe; he was always a Borderline Homophobe, though not as bad as those writing for the Boston Herald....(the exception being Jeff Jacoby, a writer for the Globe and a complete and utterly useless piece of scum!) Anyway, Barnicle was FIRED from the Globe for of all things PLAGIARISM!! He lost all his credentials and floundered at several failures at TV UNTIL MSNBC recruited him (obviously they do not care about the ethics of their writers/reporters) So here we are having to listen to Barnicle spew his skewed views of "Those GAYS"!! Yes he is one overpaid very pissed off white irish catholic..You would think, that he coming from Boston, with its own history of bigotry toward the Irish and Catholic population, would have learned something other then being a bigot!!!! But that appears to be the case with all groups who have come to America - been victimized by Bigotry and yet still find it useful to do the same to another class of people!!

  3. Seriously, write to hardball@msnbc.com. Enough of this shit. If a remark like that had been made about any other minority it would have elicited gasps everywhere. It's time to raise the bar on what is acceptable and respectable in the mainstream media.

    Know hope. Be heard.

  4. I believe we should insist that a thorough investigation be conducted on all schools of journalism, broadcast and print.

It seems they have absolutely no criteria for admission except that you be utterly stupid.

  5. The Upper West Side? What is this, 1985?

  6. This guy can't even get bigotry right -- "Upper West Side" is code for Jews, not Gays.

  7. I don't know any gays that live in Santa Monica. It's all about Venice on the West Side.

O, we'll be marching and protesting for sure!

  10. RealityThink, Barnicle lets people believe that he's Boston born-and-bred, but he's actually from Fitchburg. It's hard to keep track of all his lies and fantasies ...

  14. Damn. I guess all the gays moved from West Hollywood to Santa Monica and nobody told me!!

  15. So most people are energized because he's willing to talk to a homophobe (they say this with some glee).

OK, if that's it, and it really IS a big tent, I hope he invites an open anti-Semite and an open racist. Let's be fair, please!

  16. Someone tell this idiot where gays live.

According to the Urban Institute, by metropolitan area, the most gays per capita live:

    1. San Francisco, CA
    2. Oakland, CA
    3. Seattle-Bellevue-Everett, WA
    4. Fort Lauderdale, FL
    5. Austin-San Marcos, TX
    6. New York, NY
    7. Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA
    8. Albuquerque, NM
    9. Atlanta, GA
    10. Jersey City, NJ

I'll bet Mike Barnicle would be surprised to see Texas, New Mexico, and Georgia on that top ten list.

By neighborhood (ZIP Code) the ranking is

    1. Provincetown, MA - 02657
    2. Castro, San Francisco, CA - 94114
    3. Guerneville, CA - 95446
    4. Twin Peaks, San Francisco, CA - 94131
    5. West Hollywood, CA - 90069
    6. Oakland Park/Ft. Lauderdale, FL - 33305
    7. Haight Ashbury, San Francisco, CA - 94117
    8. Chelsea, New York, NY - 10011
    9. Roxbury, Boston, MA - 02118
    10. Montrose, Houston, TX - 77006
