Police Offer $10,000 Reward for Assailants in Lesbian Gang Rape

Richmond, CA police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the assailants in the horrific and brutal gang rape of a lesbian I posted about yesterday.

"Police described the first suspect, believed to be the group leader, as a Latino man in his 30s, who stands 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds, and has black hair, brown eyes and a mustache. The second suspect is described as an African American man in his early 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches, 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He is known by the nickname 'Blu,' police said. The third suspect is described as Latino, 18 to 20 years old, who is nicknamed "Pato." The fourth suspect is described only as a Latino man 18 to 20 years old."

The Mercury News: "Along with the brutality of the assault, the fact that the woman may have been targeted because she was gay has unnerved the officers assigned to the case, [Richmond police Lt. Mark] Gagan said. They went public with some details about the case over the weekend hoping it would motivate witnesses to come forward with information about the suspects, who have not been apprehended. 'It just pushes it beyond fathomable,' he said. 'The level of trauma, physical and emotional, this victim has suffered is extreme.'"

The AP report on the incident, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. Great effort by the police in that town. I hope it works. NO ONE should have to endure that kind of torture. It happens much more than we know, and in all communities--from ghetto neighborhoods and trailer parks to college campuses and high-class brothels.

I'm grateful and impressed that the police in Richmond are outraged at this horrific rape/torture directed at a woman just because she's gay.

  2. I'm very impressed to. I hope the perps are caught and prosecuted soon. I cannot imagine how horrible the poor woman feels. But I hope one day she can take comfort in this officer's attitude and committment to protect ALL citizens.

  3. It's good the police are taking this one seriously since there are some tough lesbians in the east bay who might just do some vigilante work and track these rapists down on their own and take care of business if the police can't/won't. This happened 10 days ago folks.

  4. This incident makes me sick. Any woman can be raped. All rape is a hate crime, not just when it is directed at a lesbian. I hope they catch the perpetrators and put them away for a long, long time.

  5. So let's see.....

How many brutal anti-gay attacks have occured since Prop 8? This one, plus the murder of the two brothers in Long Island, and another one in DC, and another one in Brooklyn....

And how many brutal anti-mormon attacks?

So why are they crowing about persecution?

  6. I hope the gays aren't screaming about this, because a lot of young (and old) gay men have rape fantasies or roleplay rape with their partners. This is not something that should be romanticized!
