Check, Please: Obama's Former Food Critic Role Revealed

Checkplease

A lost episode of cable access food show Check, Please from 2001, shot when he was a member of the Illinois senate, in which he reviews a restaurant in his Hyde Park neighborhood.

The show's producer says it never aired because Obama hardly let anyone else get a word in.

Watch it, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. A politician so narcissistic that he thinks his opnions are the only ones in the room? Perish the thought. I voted for him, but I'm glad to see the Kool-Aid's finally wearing off...

  2. "it never aired because Obama hardly let anyone else get a word in."

Good in a President. Bad in a television panelist.

  3. WTTW Ch.11 is Chicago's PBS station, it's not cable access.

  4. That's weird, because this episode has been brought up before on blogs. Producers (maybe it was a different one than the one linked here) originally said the other male guest was talkative before the cameras rolled and then completely froze once they started filming. They said the episode became un-usable (is that a word?) so they shelved it. If Obama's talking too much, I wonder if it's to compensate for the other guest.

The "Obama betrayed me! I regret my vote" human meme is already old. Have you seen his approval ratings? The only person whos with you are jaded, hateful Clintonites and jaded, hateful republicans.

  6. @Damon - I don't regret my vote, I don't feel betrayed and nowhere did I say that. I never trusted him any more than I would any other pol and was sick to death by mid-summer of seeing his coronation as the Messiah. As such, I couldn't feel betrayed and went into the booth in November knowing full well he was going to be human like everyone else.

Jeez, there's way too much kneejerking around here lately.

As if Obama "kool-aid" isn't kneejerking. Really weird. I'd never vote for someone who I thought was narcissistic.

  8. Damon - if we didn't vote for people we thought were narcissistic, none of us would ever cast a vote. To assume you're "qualified" to lead a ctiy, state, or country requires at least a gallon of ego. Again, I've cried no betrayal and I'm not saying the guy won't do good things. I'm just not waiting for the miracle to come. I've got no quarrel with you. Honest. Truce?
