NYE: Kathy Griffin Gives TV Censors their First Gift of 2009
No doubt many of you saw Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin on New Years Eve. Anderson spent much of the night giggling nervously about just what might fly from between Griffin's lips next (such as calling Tom Cruise a "truckload of crazy" after his very sincere 'Happy New Year' shout-out) Perhaps it was too early in the evening for a "crack" about CNN's Richard Quest, whose drunken report from London nearly caused the Griffin to unload, but she finally let go about quarter past midnight, screaming at a random reveler on the street, "Shut up! You know, screw you! I'm working. Why don't you get a job buddy! Ya know, I don't go to your job and knock the dicks out of your mouth!"

I think she was just mocking the fact that having one in their mouth as their *job* would be objectionable.
Plus, AC360 ran a recap of the night's "lowlights," and they even mentioned her outburst (but just didn't re-air it):

Please, she's about as gay friendly as you can get. She was calling the hecklers prostitutes, it could have been male or female.
I thought the show was very funny.. the whole point was you were waiting for her to unload on someone or out Andy.

I tend to like Kathy, but she really got on my nerves that night. She was shrieking and constantly interrupting Anderson. Take it easy on the meth/coke, Kathy.

I get a HUUUGE kick out of her. My partner and I looked at each other with jaws dropped when we heard her yell that. Then we burst out laughing. We thought it was hilarious!

Because of the weather, they both had to yell to be heard, which made them both seem shrill. It was no great night for Anderson either, though I think this shit is planned so Kathy can get publicity and have stuff to talk about in her act. She's a great storyteller, and she loves to tell stories about places she's been banned from.

Or if you think real deep into it, perhaps she was hinting that she was personally trying to get a certain dick in her mouth, though it would be more likely to be inserted in Ryan's Seacrests mouth.

Loved her and Coop. Besides, the show was a blessed alternative to watching the Seacrest/Clark train wreck on ABC.

My partner and I watched it last night on our digital recorder and seriously were in tears from laughing so hard when she yelled that out the crack about dicks in the mouth. OMG she was perfect and if you watch the entire thing Cooper is SO uncomfortable the entire night
. Kathy was good and did exactly what they brought her on today - be the fire cracker that she is.

I just wish I could've seen the look on (my bf) Coop's face when she said that. And as for him being nervous, yeah, but he likes it. She does all the things he wish he could do.

I usually enjoy Kathy but she was absolutely unbearable on new year's eve with Anderson. It was like listening to fingernails on a chalk board. Shrill, interrupting constantly, and astonishingly unfunny. Huge disappointment. My friends and I actually kept switching away from her and Anderson to stroke-affected Dick Clark and icky Ryan Seacrest.

Mike, KG didn't say "You know, the kind with the silent 'm'," but it did really sound like she said "Do they invite you over for gay night?" I did a double-take at it, too. It was funny, especially as Scott said, Anderson's reaction: "... what?"

yeah, straight guys call women "honey" and watch all the girly reality tv shows.
you know, i don't think AC is "hiding" anything really. the "important" people who should know he likes guys know that already. neither he nor any of those people care if you know or not.

Agree with Ben! Everyone knows about AC, not a big deal. Yes, it would be nice if he actually publically talked about it, but he doesn't pretend to be str8 or date women, etc. So I say Go AC! BTW, that was the best two hours of TV in a long time. Kathy rocks and I LOVE it when AC giggles like the little girl he is. Let's just feel the love for 09, folks!

Is "dicks" even a bad word that should be censored on basic cable?
I personally loved it, especially since they had hecklers and other bad bystander incidents all nights.
