Portland Mayor Sam Adams in Car Accident
Portland Mayor Sam Adams was involved in a minor fender-bender yesterday evening. Adams, who drives a GMC pick-up, "T-boned" another car, pushing it 50 to 70 feet in the parking lot of a toy store. A witness claimed to smell beer on Adams' breath, but police found no reason to believe there was any validity to that claim.
The Oregonian reports: "After the accident, Reed said that Adams asked whether he was OK.
Reed said he had some back and neck pain and went to the emergency room
just to make sure he was all right. Schweitz, who had run to check on the victims, told police at the
scene and The Oregonian on Monday, that he was two to three feet from
Adams and smelled alcohol on the mayor's breath. 'It seemed like beer,'
Schweitz said. Adams, through his spokesman, said 'there's no truth to that
allegation.' Police said they saw no indication that Adams was impaired
and said they had no reason to ask the mayor to submit to a
field-sobriety test. Reed also said he didn't notice anything unusual
about Adams. 'The mayor had no signs of being under the influence at all,' said North Precinct Sgt. Ron Berry."

This guy is a goddamn mess, and his stupid antics make us all look bad.

So "Car Toys" is a car audio/mobile phone store, not a toy store per se.
Posted by: Rebel | May 5, 2009 11:05:04 AM
A "T-bone" accident is not a minor fender bender. And pushing a car 50 to 70 feet takes a lot of force.
Posted by: AJ | May 5, 2009 11:18:09 AM
So Sam is now cruising more kids at the local toy store eh?
Posted by: CJ | May 5, 2009 11:38:39 AM
Portland's mayors name is Sam Adams with beer on his breath?????
Is this a joke?
Posted by: Marc | May 5, 2009 11:47:11 AM
Uh, Car Toys is not a toy store. It sells car stereos and mobile phones.

The speed limit in parking lots is 15 mph. Explain to me how that translates into pushing someone 50-70 feet.
Good to know gay politicians can get their drunken screwups covered up by the cops just like their straight counterparts. I guess that's progress.

I hear he is about to resign. Of course the cop is going to ignore drunk driving by his boss. Conflict of interest?? I ask you...

What a bitter bunch queers. My God. You are so afraid that he might be human and make the SuperGay look bad you rusg toi judgement and make unwarrented assumptions like the trash papers in Portland who have been going out of their way to hang Adams.
Its been a gay witch hunt up there for months and they have been going out of their way to fuck with Adams using ANY excuse. Perhaps if you did more research on it instead or reading "blurbs" you'd know that.
Also since your reading comprehension seems to be so low.
"Police said they saw no indication that Adams was impaired and said they had no reason to ask the mayor to submit to a field-sobriety test. Reed also said he didn't notice anything unusual about Adams. 'The mayor had no signs of being under the influence at all,' said North Precinct Sgt. Ron Berry."
So the POLICE are wrong and a 22 year old toy car salesmen is right?

Jeff, so I assume we should all give Mr. Adams a pass because he's gay right? "Any excuse"??? So I guess lying about having a relationship with a someone who may have been underage at the type, during their campaign is just an "excuse". It speaks to one's character about being honest. Politicians lie and distort enough as it is, it's a shame the first openly gay elected mayor of a large city is wrapped up in controversy. That is point most seem to contend, is that of all the people taking a national spotlight in a time when we are fighting stereotypes and for the very rights we deserve, this clown takes office. Whether you or any one likes it or not, the reality until our rights improve is that the gay community is much more scrutinized than most. Adams took office, putting himself in the spotlight, deceiving the very people that trusted him, and deceiving the gay community that needs a positive public figure. Now he is involved in another scandal, but we should give him a pass right? Or did the "witch hunt" cause him to plow his vehicle into another car while possibly being intoxicated? Oi...

Sorry, should have read:
"So I guess lying about having a relationship with someone who may have been underage at the time,"

Actually, Jeff, I live in Portland and would wager I know at least as much about this as you, and probably more.
Do police cover up for their political masters? All the damn time. Read a U.S. history book. Or just Google Neil Goldschmidt, you Oregon expert, you.
Then explain to me how you can t-bone a car in a parking lot, push it 50 feet, and not get a ticket. Because there's no way that happened at 15 miles an hour.
Posted by: Mad John | May 5, 2009 2:27:41 PM
Here's how he can push a car 50 feet in a parking lot and not get a ticket: it's a PARKING LOT. It's technically private property, so the police will only write a ticket if someone doesn't have insurance or if someone is impaired, etc.
Posted by: Rebel | May 5, 2009 2:44:56 PM
Where did the 50-70 feet fact even come from? That seems like someone just exaggerating.
Posted by: Michael | May 5, 2009 2:51:12 PM
No you don;t give him a pass because he's gay. But you also don;t hang him because some people have vendetta because he MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT (Which means not proven he did) have sex with someone who was under 18. (By one freakin month btw)
And CJ since you know so much no one has ever explained why Breedlove worked for Ball at his Real Eastate Company.

"And CJ since you know so much no one has ever explained why Breedlove worked for Ball at his Real Eastate Company."
Hey Jeff, you're speaking out of your a*s.
Might want to do some research before you let your fingers stroke the keyboard. That statement is 100% false. In fact, you might want to look into who helped Beau get his job, one that once again has zero to do with Bob Ball.

Sams just having a rough first few months is all. He is and will be good for this town just give him a chance (ol' Bo Breedlove not whitstanding). Haven't any of you had a car crash you were at fault for or got popped for DUII? The paper quoted the cops saying no beer breath (PDX cops are actually semi homo friendly)(don't like Sam though) and thats odd because the Pac. NW is heaven for beer drinkers and everyone in PDX has beer breath. This is media (and jaded 'mos) hype is all.

Jeff, you really need to relax and calm down. Resorting to name calling and personal attacks is doing your any good.
I don't care enough about Adams to even bother baiting into your fight. Move on.
Posted by: CJ | May 5, 2009 10:31:12 PM
Just hand over the lawsuit and get your coins and move on!

Yeah okay TPDX.
I am syre that Transisiton PDX has no Agenda here right?

Okay Guys. If you bothered to check -- this from the Oregonlive website:
1. The accident was NOT in a parking lot. The mayor hit a subaru when he was passing--looking into the sun--and the subaru turned in front of his car. The cars ended up near/in the Car Toys parking lot.
2. 1 Witness said he thought he might have smelled beer, but three bystanders, and the drivers of the cars in the accident, and the news reporter, AND the police said no, they smelled/saw/thought nothing like that. So you have 1 person claiming he might have smelled beer and 5-6 unrelated persons saying the opposite.
3. What happened to innocent until proven guilty--not that this is a trial; it is a car accident in a no-fault state.
4. The Oregon media here--yes, I live in Portland--keep running stories about every little thing the mayor does. Really most people I know think they should focus on some real news for a change.
5. Did the mayor exhibit bad judgement in his relationship TWO years ago? Again TWO years ago? Perhaps he did; I don't know him personally. Actually I think it is longer ago come to think of it.. four years ago.
6. Did the then 18 year old man have a problem with the relationship; NO. (poor guy, all upset has of course now posed naked for a gay porn mag).
7. Do I like how the Mayor apparently addressed this issue in the press last year? Not really. I think he probably should just have said it wasn't anyone's business. I can see how exactly what he thought would happen DID happen. So.. What would I have done.. I'm not sure.
Anyway, the oregon live story is at http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2009/05/adams_says_he_had_nothing_to_d.html
Oh I shouldn't type much I suppose. People can be so vicious in comments sections.

Travel to Mexico with peace of mind. Go to Mexico as a tourist and have fun or on business and have a successful business trip. Just remember that your USA vehicle third party liability, collision coverage, theft of vehicle and its accessories, occupants medical expenses, as well as legal protection in case of accident in Mexico are not covered by your USA insurance. That's why you should buy Mexican Car Insurance before entering into Mexico. Visit this site for more information: http://www.mexcarinsurance.com
