The Space Shuttle Atlantis this morning re-released the world's most observant gadget this morning at 8:57 EDT.

  1. these astronauts must have balls the size of the moon. they did inconceivably hard work, in space, and deserve medals when they get home. the Hubble is probably one of the top 5 scientific endeavors of all time, and it is through the dedication, hard work and sheer bravery of everyone involved, that we will continue to reap the benefits of this mission for years to come.

    i was 10 years old when Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey first came out, and i saw it in NYC, and besides getting a prepubescent woody at Gary Lockwood's tighty whities scene, i NEVER thought we would ever, ever, ever, actually be able to conduct this sort of stuff in space. it's all just too amazing and incredibly awesome to me. it's humbling, really.
