Tab: Miss California Carrie Prejean's Mother is Gay
Star magazine is reporting that Miss California Carrie Prejean's mother has been in a lesbian affair until as recently as the night of the Miss USA pageant:
"[Prejean's pageant statement opposing same-sex marriage] didn't sit so well with her mom's new girlfriend. Openly gay sales rep Valerie Vetrano tells Star exclusively, "Yes, Francine and I dated." However, the affair was doomed, says a source. 'Francine explained how she was a Christian and that her loved ones would never accept her if she were gay,' the friend says. When Valerie asked her what would happen if she told her daughter Carrie about the two of them, Francine responded, 'Carrie would never believe it!' According to the friend, Francine’s family knew nothing of her affair, although during her 1996 divorce from Carrie's father, Wil Prejean, both parties made gay allegations against the other."

Thank God Prejean was made so famous by angry gays, because now when the fundies use her as an example of why gays shouldn't have kids because they grow up confused and resentful, everyone will know who they're talking about.

Why is Towleroad outing Prejean's mother? From the story, Prejean's mother was not out and is obviously not preaching homophobia.
This is wrong on many levels. Seriously, why bring in a family member like this?

According to the fundies, Carrie grew up to be a fantastic role model, so that argument doesn't really work. This story, if its true, does point out that she comes from a family who seems incapable of communicating with one another, so it's no wonder that communicating articulately is not Carrie's forte given her background. But her 15 minutes have elapsed, so who really cares.

I think this is newsworthy. Here she is now with a Mom who was and is a Lesbian unable to have and hold a healthy relationship all because of people like her own daughter who think of Gays as second class citizens. Come on guys this is classic. I believe that Carrie should be the poster child to Gays for why we are pushed aside for really no reason other then religious beliefs.

I agree with Joe, this is a very interesting development. If Carrie changes her mind based on knowledge of her mother's proclivities, then it will be yet another demonstration of how knowing a gay person tends to change minds. of course that didn't work for Little Dick Cheney. If she doesnt change her mind, she'll look even more like a bigot. Win-win for us.

Of course she feels the way she does. Imagine YOUR take on the whole trashy situation if it was you. She's probably freaked the fuck out.
Don't get me wrong, I think she should be pointing out that she has Gay people in her family and because of societal norms they ended up hurting others, but, they are real, living people with families and friends just like everyone else.
The whole thing is a bloody mess.

Oh please! We are supposed to rely on the good word of a tabloid!? Just let it go. First its her father, now its her mother. The queens still have their pants in a twist I guess. Such harassment only reflects badly on the gay community and the gay community always loses in these situations. And we are supposed to want tolerance, acceptance, etc.,? Might try giving those things so that you will more likely receive it. Since such pummelings are okay, then I guess all the surge in anti-gay incidents are okay as well. Just let it go.

Did I say that Star was a gay magazine? No. I said it was a tabloid. I was referring to the gay groups who are harassing Miss Prejean through the media because they don't like her opinions, which I find childish and self-defeating. I thought that would be obvious. Sorry if your slack mind can't figure that out.
