GOP Senator Ensign Admits Extramarital Affair
Nevada GOP Senator John Ensign, who has been a vocal opponent of same-sex marriage, supported a constitutional amendment banning it, and called on President Clinton to resign over the Lewinsky affair
(“I came to that conclusion recently, and frankly it’s because of what he put his whole Cabinet through and what he has put the country through. He has no credibility left.”), acknowledged having an extramarital affair with a former campaign staffer yesterday. Her husband had formerly worked in Ensign's Senate office.
Ensign also called for Larry Craig's resignation after the Minneapolis men's room incident.

At least he lives by his own standard...asshole or otherwise.

Whoops...my bad...he hasn't resigned. What a fuckbag.

douche bag! at least the long-suffering wife wasn't forced to stand by his side like a zombie while he confessed his sins.

He should be stoned to death on the Senate steps. He's an adulterer and the Bible is very clear in what it proscribes for adulterers. So when does the stoning begin? Oh, will we have to bus in those who are without sin to cast the first stones from outside the Beltway?
Hypocrite. Liar. When can we expect your resignation, Mr. Ensign?

I live in Nevada. Most of my friends ( libs, to be sure) consider this man to be a joke anyway. He has now proven our point. If he insists on staying in office, fine. We can just vote him out....although, the voters of my state tend to put up with quite a bit from our politicians....just look at our Governor for proof of that.
Ensign is a hypocrite. Demanding that Presidents and fellow Senators resign after having an affair, yet refusing to do so himself. Rabidly defending DOMA, citing "the sanctity of marriage" yet cheating on his wife with the wife of one of his staff members. I am disgusted. Not surprised, just disgusted.

This is the same person who so self-righteously called for Pres. Clinton to resign over the Lewinski Issue. And the same person who supports the Defense of Marriage act. What a Hypocrite ! I would respect him more if he now resigns, as he called for others to do. But being a repub, I doubt he can see his actions as hypocritical.

Yet another endless example of how these homophobic bigots are "protecting" the "sacred institution of marriage". You couldn't write a screenplay with so much hypocrisy such as that which has come from the republican party. It would be unbelievable! Congress needs to repeal DOMA and DADT immediately.

hahahah Christian Republican values are at best. Is that cute?

Hey Andy,
Just a question.
What is the exact criteria to report this sex scandal and not the 'other one' from the gay side? Both have generated headlines on non-gossip sites by this point.

Here in Nevada, Ensign is viewed as a major joke! He and his family own casinos and he is a former veterinarian. He is a perfect example of the Peter Principle. He should resign to show the courage of his convictions, as when he demanded Clinton resign over the Lewinsky affair. He has now joined the ranks of the coke-snorting, alcoholic Bush; the oxicotin-addicted Rush Limbaugh, and the whore-mongering Henry Hyde. Does Ensign now have to resign rom The Promise Keepers?

John Ensign is a veterinarian. Is "Neuter and Spay the Only Way"?

Hi Felix,
Quick question, what 'other' sex scandal are you referring to? The news of that one hasn't reached our side of the pond yet.
Thanks.
(BTW, I would guess one of the major factors to post it would be the unbelievable hypocrisy...)

Ha-ha!

A clear example of what a "Hypocrite" is!! This is the future of the GOP! Can't we just take Ensign, Palin, Newt, Bill O., Sean H., Ann C., Glenn B., and a few others - put on a Boat with no oars and send it adrift in the middle of the Atlantic????????

I think it's fun to watch the Republicon Party slowly but surely self-destruct. Seeing another self-righteous twit choke on his own hypocrisy allows me to sleep better at night. I wonder who will be next?

It's a great day for Nevada! WE WILL HAVE ANOTHER DEM IN THE SENATE SOON!!!

There seems to be a lot of complaints about how he is being labeled a Republican on the network news.
I guess the biggest reason his party affiliation is being raised at all is because of the hypocrisy of these so-called social/family value conservatives.
I'm going to stop there.
I am glad that he reconciled with his wife and has gotten counseling. In that respect, I wish him the best.

It is too bad that conservatives need to run on a platform of family values. If it weren't for that, it wouldn't be such a big deal.
It just seems unreasonable that he would publicly promote the sanctity of marriage while in private disregarding all that he stands for.
He is weak and shallow and should never be allowed to run this country.

Those who live in class houses should not throw stones!!!

Just to be clear, if you are a senator and NOT having an affair the other senators laugh at you behind your back. He just mishandled the situation.

Tired of hypocrisy, corrupt politicians, the same old nonsense, fierce and stressful divisions in media and between groups and nations?
Soon people everywhere will realize something extraordinary is taking place.
Breaking news: A bright star-like luminary heralds the return of Christ
Not the religious figure of old and not to preach dogma or focus on certain groups, but a world teacher - an educator on the "laws of living" who is here to inspire humanity to unite to save the poor from dying in millions of hunger and preventable disease, who brings immense love and compassion and comes to help rid the world of guilt and separation and fear....who brings great hope for all who wish for a less divided and angered society...who wish for freedom from fear and want, for justice and peace.
