 Michaeljackson

'King of Pop' Michael Jackson was rushed to the hospital in cardiac arrest this afternoon in Los Angeles, and was reported dead shortly thereafter. Family members quickly made their way to the hospital, which has not yet released information regarding his condition.

UPDATE: TMZ is reporting that Jackson has died. "Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back."

L.A. Times: Pronounced dead..."Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors this afternoon after arriving at a hospital in a deep coma, city and law enforcement sources told The Times."

TMZ first reported:

Jackson2 "We've just learned Michael Jackson was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Los Angeles ... and we're told it was cardiac arrest and that paramedics administered CPR in the ambulance. He was picked up at his home around 20 minutes ago -- we're told his mother is on the way to visit him....The 911 call came in at 12:21PM at his Holmby Hills home in L.A....: A Jackson family member tells TMZ Michael is in 'really bad shape' and the brothers are headed to UCLA."

KTLA: Jackson not breathing when paramedics arrived...

L.A. Times: "Paramedics were called to a home on the 100 block of Carolwood Drive off Sunset Boulevard. Jackson rented the Bel Air home for $100,000 a month. It was described as a French chateau estate built in 2002 with seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, 12 fireplaces and a theater. The home is about 2.5 miles or about 6 minutes, with no traffic, from UCLA Medical Center. The news comes as Jackson, 50, was attempting a comeback after years of tabloid headlines, most notably his trial and acquittal on child molestation charges."

  8. It could be seriously argued that without MJ in the 80's and 90's, BO might not have been able to run for President in the 2000's. He was the 1st non-threatening black superstar and heart throb for millions of young people.

  13. Sorry, girlfriends, but for all his talent, Michael was a very troubled closet case who had an inappropriate attraction to young boys. Please don't sanctify his memory.

  15. This hit me like a brick. I talked to my mother tonight and told her that I now knew how she felt when Elvis passed away. I'm happy that MTV has pre-empted their "reality" programming to pay tribute to one of the artists that made them. May Michael Joseph Jackson truly rest in peace.

  17. I agree with BoxerDad. His talent hasn't been on display in decades, only his problems. And they weren't just self-contained problems: he paid off the families of children he molested. I'm not sure he was a closet case, but he was a deeply disturbed individual, most likely due to his horrible father and his child fame (check Liz Taylor).

  18. I guess he got enough.

  19. He was a child molester. Children of the world are much safer with him gone.

  21. Boxcar, Name and Paul R.,

When was it ever proven that he was a pedophile? What evidence do you have that the jurors did not?

  22. Profound grief... though in truth for me he began his funeral march 15 or so years ago when the first allegations (which are most certainly true) were raised. RIP Michael and your tortured soul. I will love you forever.

  23. Judge not lest ye be judged, Boxcar, Name, and Paul R. MJ was definitely an abused child who had an extremely distorted upbringing, an abusive domineering stage father, and unparalleled wealth and influence at an early age. No one can know for sure that he was a child molester, but he was for sure a talented, twisted, tortured, and ultimately, self-mutilated person who brought great joy to many. Shame on you for your harsh one-note summation with no evidence in hand.

  24. Giovanni, the same question goes to you. What conclusive evidence do you have that the jurors did not that proves without a doubt that the allegations "were most certainly true?"

  25. Regardless of anything and everything, he was absolutely one of the most tragic figures of all time. Probably the biggest star ever and I never got the feeling he had a moment of true happiness.

I guess I'm naive because I always thought that someday he would get his shit together and be "normal" again.

Just like Elvis, he never had the right people in his life to look out for him properly and keep him on track. Too much money and power and everyone becomes an enabler. Completely tragic life.

    RIP
