Wisconsin Couple's Crusade Against Gay Books Leads to Call for Public Book Burning, Tar and Feathering
Jim and Ginny Maziarka, of West Bend, Wisconsin, have been waging a battle against their town's library because there are gay and lesbian-themed books on the shelves:
"With the debate raging, the city council voted in April against
renewing the terms of four library board members, in part because
council members thought the board was dragging its feet, library
director Tyree said. The Maziarkas were still fighting to have
books moved, having identified 82 questionable titles -- more than
double their original list. Then they stopped targeting a list of books
and circulated a petition that asked the board to label and move to the
adult section any 'youth-targeted pornographic books' -- including
books that describe sex acts in a way unsuitable for minors. The books
could still be checked out freely by anyone. 'We're not talking about educational material. We're talking raunchy sex acts,' Maziarka said. One book she objects to is 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower,' in which
a fictional teenage boy tells about his freshman year in high school,
including rape and homosexual and heterosexual sex between teens."
The Maziarka's battle has spread outside their town, to Milwaukee, where a supporter has called for a public book burning.
Read about the entire, despicable, battle here, and watch two clips — one of Ginny Maziarka speaking at a public hearing, and a Christian talk show segment about the Maziarkas' crusade, AFTER THE JUMP...

Ginny Maziarka looks as though she is about to keel over from a heart attack. Quick, somebody get her a hot fudge sundae covered in melted butter with a bag of Doritos and a couple of corn dogs on the side!!!!

The Milwaukee numbnuts, a guy named Braun, is also a regular protester of mere local rock concerts. A known carbuncle on the dairy state's collective butt. And the butt of numerous jokes.

In my mind it's unbelievable. The parents continue banning books - and this time with a new library board! Their final demand is not only to remove the books from the library but to destroy them in a public burning. I can only recur: It's unbelievable!!
I'm completing an Internship at NCAC - National Coalition Against Censorship - at the moment. On our blog we discuss also about this subject. If you are intrigued and wanna read more about it just join our blog:

We're glad about a lot of comments as well as a lively discussion!

Really, Perks of Being a Wallflower? I remember reading that back in high school. Very good book, dealing with real issues and emotions regarding rape and pedophilia, drug abuse and homosexuality. I remember that the two gay characters were written as normal jock type characters, with one being the star quarterback who has a nervous breakdown after he bottoms for the first time. I don't see why this bitch would want that banned, we want to educate our children about the real world, not keep them plastered to Sesame Street forever.

I was in Highpoint N.C. for business and there was a book burning of the Harry Potter books at the Highpoint library because, as everyone in town put it, those books were teaching devil worship.

Maziarka, let me guess, probably catholics related to that polish minister who wanted Tinky Winky from the Teletubbie arrested for being gay.

The only thing uglier than this fat broad is the idiotic ideas that spill from her lips.

I grew up not far from there and have fond memories of checking out the Kinsey reports at that same West Bend library as a young adult.. They made me realize my feelings werent totally freakish. I wonder if those are on her list?
Its important to know that that area of Wisconsin is extremely tolerent and progressive. She is definitely not the norm.
She is a disgrace to the forward thinking and intelligent people of that great state.

She does have the 'fat girl who fell in love with a gay guy "because he was so nice to me and I would have never thought he was gay" and got her heart broken' look. Doesn't she. Poor thing. Someone toss her another case of cookies.

Quite frankly, I agree. Gratuitous sex or description thereof is unsuitable for minors. It is our job to let them have their childhood and protect, to a certain extent, their youthfulness. As long as "anyone" can check out the books, they're still available to them and those that seem them out will find them. Being a gay man, living in WI, I think, from the information I've read above, this is a suitable solution.

Somebody needs to tell this dumb cow to sit down, shut up, and try parenting her own damn children without making the rest of the population suffer for it.

You just have to wonder what motivates a person like this--besides cheese curds. Was she rejected by lesbian lover and never got over it? Did her 47 cats stop holding her interest? We can't ask her to shut her pie hole, but we can stop giving her publicity.

how embarrassing for Wisconsin that hillbillies like this still live there in this day and age..

At least the gay kids in that town and surrounding towns will know where to find the books they have been looking for!
Keep preaching lady, you are helping the gay kids find exactly what you didn't want them to have.
