Gay Military Veterans Honored in Public Ceremony in Chicago
The City of Chicago Commission on Human Relations held the nation’s only municipally sponsored, military salute to LGBT veterans yesterday in Daley Plaza. Luke Visconti of the Chief of Naval Operations Executive Panel and of the U.S. Navy Diversity Senior Advisory Group was the keynote speaker. Also on hand was U.S. Representative Mike Quigley. Quigley is a co-sponsor of the Military Readiness Enhancement Act of 2009, which would repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".
