Episcopal Nuns Defect Over Church's Gay Views, Become Catholics
Ten Episcopal nuns from All Saints Sisters of the Poor convent outside Baltimore have joined the Catholic Church because of their former denomination's acceptance of gays and lesbians:
"The ten members of the All Saints Sisters of the Poor, who were received into the Catholic Church by Baltimore Archbishop Edwin O'Brien, will continue to live with two nuns who decided not to convert at their convent in Catonsville, Md. The community's chaplain, the Rev. Warren Tanghe, also converted on Thursday with the nuns. 'Our archdiocese and our church's mission of caring for the poor are now greatly enriched for having the All Saints Sisters among us,' O'Brien said in a statement. Members of the order had been considering conversion for seven years. Mother Christina Christie, superior of the order, told the Baltimore Sun: 'We were drifting farther apart from the more liberal road the Episcopal Church is traveling. We are now more at home in the Roman Catholic Church.' By allowing gay bishops and blessings for same-sex relationships, the Episcopal Church is 'way off the boat,' Christie said."

I didn't know Episcopalians had nuns. Oh well, more power to 'em. If they really want to spend the last couple years of their lives leaving their church because of their hatred of gays, then let them.

Too bad GiGi still goes to hell like all other animals. Shame, really.

ahh Fuck these Old Hags...and its a wonder WHY they can't get barely ANY American women to join the Nunnery...they usually get the brainwashed foreignors from POOR/Backwards countires these days to join thier Nun Factory.

So they left a church that recognized consensual relationships between 2 loving adults to join a church that hides years of molestation between sexually deviant priests and small children?
Good call.

So the fact that the two religions have important (some say fundamental) differences in their beliefs (such as transubstantiation, and belief in the Trinity) means nothing to these people -- it's all about the gays.
Glad I left religion. Wonder what their god will say to them when they try to enter into their "kingdom."

We need to launch a 'Save GiGi' campaign... I bet she didn't have a lot of say in the matter!

So they're leaving one delusional group to join an even more delusional group. Who cares? I guess they're so addicted they just can't quit the habit. Sorry, I just couldn't resist. The devil made me do it!

As an ex-Catholic who has some fond memories of nice members of the clergy I have known over the years, it saddens me to see people who may at one time have been idealists give into the crassest, most divisive elements of their religion. I don't judge these women. I simply find them profoundly sad and disappointing.

From Joni Mitchell's "Magdalene Laundries:"
These bloodless brides of Jesus
If they had just once glimpsed their groom
Then they'd know, and they'd drop the stones
Concealed behind their rosaries
They wilt the grass they walk upon
They leech the light out of a room
They'd like to drive us down the drain
At the Magdalene laundries

Well now.
Why don't we all reach out and give them a collective "Bitch-Slap" ??

Homophobic nuns... That's one thing. But a homophobic puppy. That's just sad beyond words. :(

It wasn't just priests who abused children. Nuns were just as involved but for some reason they're getting a free pass from the media. I guess it's less sensational. Hey, if these nuns want to leave the EC, fine. Leave! Take your bigotry elsewhere. Any woman who would declare a lifetime of celibacy as a "bride of christ" only to end up as an embittered, withered crone deserves to be a nun, catholic or otherwise.

As a Christian, I wish them well. As a former Catholic, I pray for them. As a gay man, I laugh at them. As a human, I just shake my head.

Does that sign say "We Are All Enclosed in Kim"?
Who's Kim?
If this "Kim" person has eaten all those nuns, I think they need to worry about her right now, not homosexuals.

They're just mad 'cause GiGi's the prettiest one!

Hey guys. For these women, switching religions does not matter. If any of you care to do any research on Catholic nuns, several orders are being "investigated" by the Vatican because they are too supportive of the gay community. I've been a catholic my whole life and since coming out, I have never had a priest or a nun say anything other than kind supportive words to me. There is a difference between The Church (capital letters - i.e. Vatican) and your local church. Chances are in America, your local church is accepting of gays - if it's not, there is another church down the street that is. That is the beauty of this country. You don't like it, you go somewhere else. It's called freedom. It's kinda cool if you practice it.

I want to hear more about the two non-converting nuns. Maybe those two actually believe in helping humankind? Either that or they take their jobs very seriously, enough that the specific Episcopalian/Catholic differences PistolPetey described prevented those two from making the switch.

The episcopal church does not have nuns, this must be a fake story just to instigate fear.

PS Going out on a limb here and guessing that sister Bob-Barbara Ann joined up in the sixties.
PPS I know I'm gonna get hell for this, but who the fuck is Gigi?
