WATCH: Protect Maine Equality Releases First Two TV Spots

Samputnam

Protect Maine Equality has released its first two official ads (the ad featured earlier was produced by GLAD, Equality Maine, and MCLU) following this morning's news that a ballot measure to repeal the state's marriage equality laws has made November's ballot.

The first features Sam Putnam and his two moms. The second features Bill Whitten, a former Marine and his two daughters, one gay, one straight.

Watch them, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. I hope they win, but if they go with this "don't say gay..." cowardly approach, there might be trouble.

  2. Beautiful ads. I hope the people of Maine make the right choice.

  3. I like these ads and it is great you are being proactive about getting them on air before NOMs lies and distortions.

  5. Cameronj: did you listen to the ads?
    The first SHOWS the two moms constantly.
    The second has the word "gay" in the opening sentence.
    These are exactly the kinds of ads that were needed in CA, but because of all the fancy and costly "focus groups," they didn't use them.

  7. DONATE MONEY NOW to EqualityMaine! It is the most important time to do it.

    * Participate in phonebanks
    * Make youtube videos in support of Maine's marriage equality
    * Write emails to Maine newspapers
    * Talk to your friends

    Email Maine congressmen to get them to release statements and to endorse marriage equality.

  8. Ads like this did not work in California and will not work in Maine. It is not all about children. Think! Gay Marriage is about Gay people. We do not have to join the straight movement. Where are the loving gays and lesbians without the children? The second ad works for me.
