  1. By omage (sic) to the past, is he referring to a Trapper Keeper I had in 1987? If so, then I do get it.

    Oh, and MUSE!!! Hells yeh.

  3. To quote Tim Burton's film Ed Wood, Adam:

    "I get it. I don't like it."

  4. yeah but you can been campy, tacky & fun without looking blatantly cheap

this looks something that would be in the cutout bargain bin

i don't think the issue is anyone failing to see the "omage," it's just a shoddy job imo

  5. Reading the comments from the post that first depicted the cover, I'm amazed at how homogenized and boring celebrities some of us expect. Lambert had a music career before AI and he'll have one after it. Will this cover prevent someone from buying this album? Oh well. Occasionally, a person might prefer to keep their integrity and portray themselves as they wish...instead of pandering to whatever the *average* person would expect.

I'm not a Lambert fan (his music isn't my thing), but my respect for him has only increased.

  6. Oh, I get it, Adam. I just think it was a stupid move. Stupid.

  7. Adam corrected the "omage" thing ten minutes after he tweeted it. In fact, it's the only tweet that wasn't quoted in this post:

"*homage. When's Twitter adding spell check? "

    Lame, Andy.

Why is it a stupid move?

  9. Adam, do you hear that clock? 15, 14, 13, 12 minutes...

    tick tock

    Your minutes are few.

  10. Ok, I'll probably get slammed for this but whatever. I think Adam Lambert is talented. And I think it's awesome that he's not afraid to be exactly who he wants to be without anyone trying to force him into a box. But honestly, Adam Lambert reinforces the gay stereotype and it doesn't help mainstream America understand that not all gay people like to wear makeup and dress like Taylor Dayne on a bender. The more people like NPH and TR Knight and the Irish hurler who come out help so much more.

  11. Larry, if it wasn't for those effeminate gays gay rights wouldn't exist now. Those are the gays on the front lines everyday. To say they are lesser than because they're not straight acting is self-hating.

  12. larry would u also say that every straight football player is just reinforcing straight stereotypes? ur argument is a bit ridiculous. sugarrhill i agree 100% adam lambert is fearless and an inspiration wish more gays were like him

  13. "But honestly, Adam Lambert reinforces the gay stereotype and it doesn't help mainstream America understand that not all gay people like to wear makeup and dress like Taylor Dayne on a bender."

So should we all package ourselves to mimic and be palatable to mainstream America? Our mission shouldn't be to make mainstream America "understand" us. Our mission should be to live our lives openly and to be able to follow our dreams, whether that dream is to be a butch athlete or an androgynous pop star. Not every gay boy wants to grow up to wear makeup, but some certainly do, and someone as playful and talented as Adam--whether one likes his music or not--is a great role model for them. Fem boys aren't just stereotypes, they exist.

  14. I think Adam is the perfect role model. I don't think someone's flamboyancy or decisions to wear make up makes them a good role model. It is their decision and ability to be who they are and who they want to be that I, and many young people, will look up to. The fact that this discussion is even happening, on a gay site even, contributes more to the negativity associated with the gay community. Thank you, Larry. Your naive and ignorant opinion makes Adam decisions and role model behavior appear even stronger.

  15. I think it's total Sheena Easten realness--see her album covers to compare it here: http://artasticavenjer.blogspot.com/2009/10/for-your-entertainment.html

  16. WHY the F does the gay 'Movement' so closely align itself with 'Camp'? I understand many gay 'Leaders' and 'Advocates' are effeminate or some-what effeminate, but most gay and bi males are not, and most are not campy or into camp. It is VERY difficult to break stereotypes under status quo conditions.

Nothing personal against this Adam dude.

  17. He has a powerful voice and will go far, but I'm sick of the campy/fem look. He's a good looking guy, and I'd like to see him without all the makeup for a change. Men need to go back to looking like men. People like Lambert perpetuate a stereotype that gay men are into makeup and nail polish.

  18. Adam's cover is totally awesome!! It isn't about being a gay guy trying to be pretty. Adam is no drag queen!! It is a nod to Glam in a totally, ridulously, over done sort way. It is artsy and deliberately over the top (Adam can't help it if he is so pretty). Love the retro fonts and androgynous feel. Look how different it is from left to right (split in half). Love it!!

  19. Folks sales on Adam's album have put him back up to #1 in pre-sales since the cover came out. He has people talking and buying. This is no mistake!! This is briliant just like his Pop single "Let Me Entertain You" Edgy, catchy and will get huge radio play. The rest of the album will be rock and other genre's so it is going to be slamm'n!!
