Jon Stewart Slams FOX for Ignoring the National Equality March

Stewart

On last night's Daily Show, Jon Stewart discussed FOX News' devotion of 3:42 to the National Equality March and 8:16 to an empty sidewalk in New Jersey following the "Obama song" protest.

Says Stewart: "Gay people aren't vampires. They show up on camera."

Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

And was that Towleroad's Corey Johnson there for a second? Kudos, Corey.

  1. Amazing that Fox News wouldn't cover the NEM, but I'm not all too surprised. Thanks Jon Stewart for calling them out on this!

As an FYI, I've composed a video montage for the National Equality March that you can see on their website and here:

  3. I have no problem with FOX not covering the NEM. I do have a problem with CNN and others shameful coverage of the March. Tey are muh worse in my eyes. Take a look at Stewart ripping them a new one on his Monday show.

Btw, the LGBT and MSM media make it look like it was all white folk who worked on the march. Don't worry, there was plenty of colored folk and Transgendered people they didn't interview. C'est la vie, one battle at a time.

  4. Great segment, but the numbers are off. The Equality march was two to three times as large as the Tea Party march. That's hundreds of thousands of marchers - not tens of thousands.

  5. I love JS too. But I'm really pissed that CNN gave the March short shrift.

  6. Um, I was watching Fox News over the weekend and they had correspondents there and they talked about it near the top of the hour several times. One of the organizers was on O'Reilly last week. I don't know which Fox News Stewart was watching, but it was covered.

  7. I love Stewart, but wasn't the awful Wayne Besen on O'Reilly, too, talking all about the March?

  8. @ BC

And you think that was enough coverage?

Get the fuck outta here wit dat bullshit.

  10. Yes, FOX mentioned the march, how could they not when tens to hundreds of thousands descended on the Capitol??

But the difference is they promoted the tea parties and had special programming for it and then CRITICIZED other media sources for their lack of coverage and now they have done the same thing with the equality march, so therefore that makes them hypocrites.

  11. Fox News' Political Commentators had their shows at the Tea Parties. That is very different than the regular news reporting. I did not hear anyone on Fox News once ever call the March on Washington anything disparaging at all. They were respectful in their reporting. And actually, O'Reilly and Glenn Beck COMMENDED the marchers b/c they were executing their First Amendment rights. Compare that to the comments made by "Journalists" and commentators on MSNBC about the Tea Parties. There is a HUGE difference. Now had Fox News called the March on Washington "astroturf" or "insane" or called the people at the march "terrorists" then I would too be upset. Try to find a clip of a Fox News on-air person cutting down this weekend's march. It didn't happen. But there are dozens and dozens of Olbermann and Maddow being immature and childish about the Tea Parties.

  12. LOL, how can you compare the Tea Parties and the Equality March? I did not attend the Equality March, but as far as I know there weren't people there holding hateful and racist signs.

Just go to youtube and search for "9/12 project"

  14. The White House has dismissed the teabaggers as Right Wing fringe and the Equality Marchers as Left Wing fringe.

    Posted by: JT | Oct 14, 2009 6:02:50 PM

  15. The White House denied the claim about the bloggers being left wing fringe.

  16. LOL- that was brilliant.
