Pat Robertson on LGBT Hate Crimes Legislation: 'The Noose Has Tightened Around the Necks of Christians'
Delibrately spreading misinformation, Christian extremist Pat Robertson discussed the Matthew Shepard & James Byrd, Jr. Hates Crimes Prevention Bill on The 700 Club, saying "The noose has tightened around the necks of Christians to keep them from speaking out on certain moral issues."

That noose Pat feels is God telling him he's doomed to rot in Hell for being a hateful bigot. Time's up, Pat!
Posted by: Jack M | Oct 30, 2009 9:39:50 AM
Well no Pat that is not the case as RELIGION is already covered in the Hate Crime Legislation.
So stringing you up is REALLY REALLY against the law, and comes with extra fines.
BTW --
Pat's Christian Broadcasting Network website yesterday shared with readers that Halloween Candy is DEMONIC as it is PRAYED OVER BY WITCHES in the factory before it goes out - and adults giving it to children are guilty of SOUL MOLESTATION.
Not The Onion.
Actually what they printed.
Sad there are so many mental peasants in America still.

Isn't it time for this dinosaur to be extinct yet?

Hey Pat. Jerry Falwell called. He said you're late to the "Wait, WTF? this isn't heaven!" party.

I thought this pathetic closeted homosexual piece of human garbage died a couple of years ago? Really, I thought he was burning in Hell with his pal Jerry Falwell... He should be. Somebody PLEASE put a bullet in his brain. It's the only way to kill a rotting jeebus zombie that I know of.

Dear Pat,
If it was not for your hateful rhetoric over the ages; if you would have actually acted as a good Christian instead of as fuel to the Right Wing conservative fires, if you would have shown compassion to humanity instead of filling the airwaves with babbling hate-speak, we probably would not have required such a bill.
You, sir, are the root cause of that so called noose you feel around your collective necks.
I only hope that down the road, when your sickening like fester enough support to obtain majority power again, your kind does not undo the measures to broaden and improve our human rights that your kind has so lovingly shrived to obliterate in the name of your God.

Oh, the logic, or lack thereof. Dinosaur Pat and the Republicans fail to note that religion was already covered in Hate Crimes Legislation, but were they speaking out against it then? Of course not. Were they worried about the free speech rights of those of us who speak out against religious bigotry? Of course not.
They can't have it both ways. Idiots like John Boehner, when confronted with their hypocrisy, then go on to say that sexual orientation shouldn't be added because it isn't an "immutable characteristic." As if religion is. Funny how all the opponents to Hate Crimes Legislation only come out of the woodwork to complain about free speech when we're included. Too late, guys.

A noose, Pat? Around the necks of right wing bigots? Really?
If only. Sigh.

NOT A CHANCE ??
How is it ok for a "man of god" to go on TV an lie like this and people be so uninformed (willfully) to know the the current Hate Crime law already establishes relgion as a protected class. ?
Sickening twisted evil calling himself a Rev ... gross.
Posted by: RJP3 | Oct 30, 2009 10:10:43 AM
No, Pat, no noose, but the cuffs have been tightened around your hands so you can't beat us to death without getting some jail time, you tired old chimp.

First, if ministers are so worried about being implicated in hate crimes, maybe they should explicitly state in their sermons that the Bible speaks against homosexuality (up for debate in my opinion) but that doesn't justify violence.
Second, way to revert to the slippery-slope fallacy! It's funny that they see the extension of civil liberties as an infringement on them as well. Furthermore, we can only practice our civil liberties up to the point that they begin to infringe on the civil liberties of others.
Finally, what if there were some contemporary religion that preached that desegregation was wrong and the peoples of color in America should be stripped of their rights? I imagine most people would stand up and say that's wrong. However, religion was used in the past to do just that. Once people can see the historical parallels, it becomes obvious that religion is flawed and not everything written in a 2,000 year old book should or can be applied to our contemporary lives.

I wish it were true about the Halloween candies. How cool would that be, actual witches in a candy factory!
Hi Pat, I have news for you. Nobody's putting a noose over your head. You're simply convincing fewer and fewer people with your outright lies. This kind of rhetoric is laughable, even to many Christians.

Can't we bring back the collisium games?
Here kitty kitty kitty.
I have a nice fattened up xtianist for you.

Perhaps its a guilty conscience that makes one feel there's a noose around one's neck when SOMEONE ELSE gets rights. How odd and sad.
I don't know why anyone would pay attention to nutters like this anymore. They have no business commenting on the freedoms that government is concerned with; they should just be paying attention to the beliefs of their followers and leave the general public out of their wacky-assed plans.

Dear Pat;
There is an amount of responsibility that comes with every freedom. You speak as though you are the only religion that counts. There are other religions, other beliefs that are respected by our constitution. If you want to preach that homosexuality is a sin, that is your choice. If you preach that no matter what other people feel, only your feelings matter then you are wrong! And if in your preaching you incite a person to go out and commit a crime, then you ARE just as guilty as the person doing the crime! Have you ever heard of temperament?
Anything is a sin if you believe it is a sin. That is what I was taught in catechism classes. It is ok to preach it is a sin for YOUR congregation members to be homosexual, but at the same time you need to explain, it is just as bad to perform violence in the name of Jesus! WHEN did Jesus perform a violent act? When did Jesus strike a sinner? When did Jesus force anyone to conform to his desires?
I have no problem of you or any preacher establishing that something is a sin inside your own belief system. But, what right do you have of trying to force other people to conform to YOUR belief system?
I was raised a Catholic. The pope, and bishops spout all sorts of things that ALL people must do. WOW! They have some track record! Does anyone remember the crusades? How about the Spanish Inquisition? The clergy were all over that stuff! Then a simple thing like the fact that the earth was round, the church condemned that idea and called it blasphemy! Oh, wait a minuet, It is round, well more like pear shaped! But it sure is not flat, like the church said it was.
It is funny how things like that are forgotten. Funny how the church had Joan of Arc burned at the stake, but now calls her a SAINT?
The last time I read the bile, I read a passage of a person asking Christ why Sodom were punished. Christ's answer was that they were punished for in-hospitality! I truthfully do not know where in the New Testament does Jesus Christ PERSONALLY condemn homosexuality.
So Pat, if you would like to preach that homosexuality is a sin, don't forget to balance that preaching with the proper balance to prevent anyone from going overboard and committing a crime based on your preaching! Using that method, I do not forsee anyone getting in trouble with the law!

Honey don't even bother with the long screed. The only ones listening to Pat Fucking Robertson are the ones who are unreachable. Let them wallow in their own irrelevance.

If he had bothered to read the specifics of the federal hate crimes legislation, which obviously he hasn't, he would have seen that RELIGION is a part of said legislation:
From Wikipedia:
Hate crime laws in the United States (also known as bias crimes) protect against crimes motivated by enmity or animus against a protected class. Although state and federal laws vary, typical protected characteristics are race, religion, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and disability.
So, since ol' Marion didn't bother to notice that "Christians" such as himself are a protected class, it's basically all about wanting gay and lesbian people and transgendered people to continue being the victims of bashing and sometimes murder.

HOw pathetically ignorant...so basically..."if a pastor preaches against gay people and one of his flock goes out and hurts or kills one, why is it the pastor's fault?" – Hey idiot, if you spread H8T8 – assume responsibility for your ignorance and its consequences...that man....Cracker Nation at is best!

Every TV station has to maintain a public file for the FCC to review. If you have a complaint with a show like the 700 Club, you should write a letter (not an email) to the station's public file.
Point out the misinformation and hatred from the show.
Send a letter for every episode of the show filled with misinformation and hatred (you will want to pick up a lot of stamps).
If you find yourself near the station, stop in and ask to inspect the public file. They are obligated to let you. Mention to any and everyone there about the hatred and misinformation.
Lather, rinse, repeat.

At least the Christians aren't being left to die on barbed wire fences.

Sadly most see the 700 Club on Cable on The ABC Family Channel.
Pat founded the Family Channel cable channel.
Sold it to Fox, who sold it ABC.
All contracts read that they must continue to broadcast the 700 Club. Pat is not very happy that ABC is showing REALLY family programs that promote civil equality for Gays and Lesbians --- but such is life Pat!

The liberties that he enjoyed are coming to an end...like the liberty to discriminate and bash gays....

Hey Pat, if you need someone to kick the chair from under you let me know. It's the only Christian thing to do. End your pain, and ours from having to hear your crap.
