But if you attach it as an amendment — that’s what was successful with the hate-crimes amendment — I think that’d be best.”

Playgirl writer: Levi Johnston saved us. "Playgirl pulled out all the stops to make this shoot a media circus -- overexerting itself financially to compensate Levi and bring on board new and old staff members to see the project through (including wunderkind party promoter Nardicio and myself, Playgirl's editor-in-chief from 2006 to 2008); and marketing the hell out of all things Levi (an ironic Levi Johnston line of Playgirl condoms due out in the spring, a Levi Johnston poster complete with signature). The 36-year-old magazine miraculously rose from the ashes of the Phoenix to become in recent months a relevant brand name once again."

  1. The Prop 8 defenders are going to hold out forever. If they hand over the complete documents, they look bad and hurt their case. If they don't and are arrested for contempt, they look like religious martyrs. Guess which one they'll choose?

Not to mention, they've probably destroyed a lot of incriminating evidence by now. At this point they're probably drawing straws for who gets to go to prison.

  2. poperah,er dopeprah can go bye as long as i am concerned. she has championed mediocrity from day one. she was a sleaze monger from the beginning, then she supported dr. phil, dr. oz, and lazy-assed literature. when she should have been politically engaged, oh, i dunno maybe when gore and kerry were running against repug nut-jobs? she was awol. when did she decide to get active? surprise! it was when a black man was running. oh, doperah, i can read you like a comic book. all you have accomplished is getting rich while dumbing down our country. fuck you and gale and your little dog, steadman, too. good riddance. i had my aha! moment years ago.

  3. So sad about Oprah! At least we have a couple more seasons to enjoy...

  4. @Nic

    * In the year 1987, Oprah won her first Emmy award for best talk/service show host and best show.
    * Oprah received the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s Entertainer of the Year Award, Image Award (4 times) and their Spingham Medal.
    * Oprah testified before the US congress and initiated the National Child Protection Act in 1991.
    * In 1995 Oprah not only won an Emmy for Best Talk Show and Best Host for the second year in a row but also kick started Oprah Online on AOL (American Online) in partnership with ABC. Oprah became the first woman and the only black on Forbes list of 400 richest Americans in the same year.
    * In the year 1996, Oprah received the prestigious George Foster Peabody’s Individual Achievement Award.
    * In 1997 Oprah’s Angel Network was formed which encouraged people to make charitable contributions and volunteer work.
    * In the year 1998 Oprah received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Daytime Emmy Awards and an award for top talk show host.
    * In 2002, Oprah received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the 2002 Emmy Awards for her services to television and film.
    * In the year 2005 Oprah was named by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of the year. She also ranked in 9th place in public poll of the greatest Americans.
    * Oprah Winfrey was also the first black person listed by Business Week as one of America’s top 50 most generous philanthropists. She gave $52 million to charity in 2005 ALONE.
    * Oprah has invested $40 million and much of her time creating the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls near Johannesburg in South Africa, which started in January 2007.
    * Her efforts were applauded by Nelson Mandela who congratulated her for overcoming her own disadvantaged youth to become a benefactor for others and for investing in the future of South Africa.
Google will surely bring up many more accomplishments, including that she is loved by millions of people worldwide whom she has helped simply by being on the air and giving light to their issues.

    Mediocre? I think not.

    So...what have YOU done, Nic?

  5. @Q,

so what does any of that have to do with her dumbing down of society? she has always been the queen of the grand gesture. while african-americans kids go wanting in our country, what does she do? she builds a school in africa. when she wanted to ingratiate herself here, what did she do? she bought everyone in her studio A CAR!!! "EVERYONE GETS A CARRRRRRR!!!!!!!", she bellowed.

in my mind, she is little more than a ronald reagan of the left-wing, all form and no substance. she celebrates poor fiction and prose. she elevates frauds and charlatans (dr. phil, dr. oz, and by extension, that show called "the doctors")further, what was the name of that guy who defrauded millions of people with that sham of a book called "a million shattered pieces" or some such?

again, i have to say, when push came to shove in the political arena, she was deaf and dumb. she only got involved when there was a black person in the ring. i cannot forgive intellectual dishonesty or opportunism. granted, she has butt-loads of cash, that's true. but, why does that recommend her? the gates foundation has given millions more.

she likes to claim that she was not only poor, but she was po'. she was never poor in the right way of thinking. did she also fabricate her sexual abuse? or, was she confusing her life experience with that of niecy in "the color purple"?

  6. sorry 'celie' not niecy.

  7. I have an aunt that can't stand Oprah and sounds a lot like Nic. Always talks about her giving stuff away and crap. Sounds like nothing but jealousy to me. I piss my aunt off all the time when the subject comes up... saying just aspire to be more like her instead of putting down someone your don't even know. Maybe if you do that you will at least get out of your trailer soon.
