that first video of the Burj Dubai was terrifying just to look at. I'm not sure someone could pay me enough to go up there and look down, even strapped in.

I'm not afraid of heights but that is pretty freaky.
I love Mo Rocca, he's great when he's on Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me, on NPR. Didn't know he had such nice guns. Wouldn't mind scrubbing his back in or out of the tub.

i was at the Pyramids for the first time in September and i have to say that the most disappointing thing was the fact that they are more or less right in the middle of Cairo. after years of seeing pictures of them, the 10-12 story apartment buildings with 10 satellite dishes on each balcony around them kind of spoiled it for me. i'm glad i went and can say i was there and also that i now have been in Africa. now i want to go down to Luxor and to some of the active digs to see the work.

I've seen dozens of those "flash mob dancing" events ... but when the camera angled upwards and you see Janet actually there, watching from a balcony .. well that sent a chill!
So very cool!

the burj dubai certainly is an engineering feat but i can't see the value of any human wanting/needing to live & work THAT high in the sky, plus the effort to get water & electricity that far up in the sky. "A" for effort, but overall kinda useless. (like the chair going into space for a commercial from an earlier post: after the "wow" factor, it seems wasteful.)
In Egypt, i saw the food chain franchises from the other direction: the enigmatic Sphinx was just staring out...directly at a KFC. Funny for 2 seconds, then awfully uncool.
