Elton John Working on New Dance Music Album
Elton John is reportedly working on an album of dance music.
Spinner reports: "Proving that you're never too old to hit the dancefloor, it has been revealed Sir Elton John is set to release an album of dance music after working with Australian producers P'Nau. Best known for their work with Empire of the Sun, the production team are set to move Sir Elton into totally uncharted territory and in the process have sparked a furious bidding war between labels eager to release the material. A source close to the singer told the Sun: 'Elton says he's writing his most exciting new stuff for years -- possibly decades. Working with P'Nau has got the creative juices flowing again. They have got a load of big companies sniffing around.'"

I thought Empire of the Sun's 'Walking on a Dream' was the best album of the year (it certainly tops my iTunes' play count). And P'Nau was on my dream list of producers I hoped would work with Adam Lambert, but instead he went with more mainstream producers.
What makes Empire of the Sun work is the far out there, 110% committed wackiness of the lyricists... somehow I don't see the singer of "The Circle of Life" going for that.

You're obviously unfamiliar with Elton John's repertoire of work, Crispy. While 'The Circle of Life' is the kind of music he became most known for in the 1990s, he does have more instrumental/ electronic/ conceptual music under his belt, most notably his 'Theme from a Non - Existent Tv Series' of 1976.

So, dance music is not all too foreign to him.

EJ had a few big dance hits through his career. From "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" through "Club At The End of the Street." Then there were the club mixes for songs like "Original Sin" and "Written In the Stars." All in all, his new full-on leap should be interesting.

It's just Pnau, and they didn't work with Empire of the Sun, Empire of the Sun was half Pnau and half Sleepy Jackson. Sheesh.
