  1. there seems to be an amalgam between what happened in the ny senate or maine and what happened in california and 29 other states. there is no ban in the law books in maine and certainly not in new york. if anything, the dynamic has shifted from questions banning the recognition of our equality to questions affirming it. this ought not to be lost in translation.

  2. We also need to remember that New York will recognize legal same sex marriages that were performed elsewhere so there is far from a ban here. That said, it IS nuts to have recognition without allowing it in state.

  5. PENDER,

Jon Stewart has long been an outspoken advocate for gay rights. But it doesn't matter what the topic is -- jokes are what he does. His show wouldn't have lasted over a decade if he had just read the news.

  6. Without the gay sex jokes?. Have you seen the show? Hello!?..
Jon Stewart is totally on our side. He can make all the jokes he wants, cause he's hilarious!.

  7. Still finding it hard to laugh about this, even with the hilarious Jon Stewart.

  8. It's not an either/or question. I'm a huge fan of Stewart and I know his heart is in the right place, but there are still always the "gay sex is hilarious" jokes thrown into these stories. They're forgivable, in context, but they're also pandering and are never even funny.

  9. "could have done without the gay sex jokes..."

Yes, Jon Stewart would be much more effective on every overly strident activist's favorite channel, Dead Serious Central.

  10. I'm glad that he was able to identify the joke in Meredith Baxter's coming out, because I was racking my brain for three days! And there we have it...

As for the gay sex jokes, they are funny in the capable hands of Mr. Jon Stewart, though lesser comedians are not as apt at squeezing out the love juice from them as he. He's one of the good ones.

  11. Gay catholics, christians, jews, etc - get your head out of your butt - they do not want you!

Stop supporting a group and belief that does not want you. :)
