Puerto Rican Governor Seeks Constitutional Ban on Gay Marriage

Current laws aren't discriminatory enough for Governor Fortuño:

Puertorico "While Puerto Rican laws already ban same-sex marriages and prohibit the recognition of same-sex marriages from other jurisdictions, religious organizations fear the laws could be changed by future governing administrations and thus are seeking a constitutional ban on gay marriages....Previous attempts at the local Legislature to approve a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, such as the so-called Resolution 99, have failed...Gay rights activist Pedro Julio Serrano blasted the governor over his position on same-sex marriage. 'Finally, we learn the truth about his posture on Resolution 99. For months, he hid behind a language so as not to appear that he was discriminating but he has now done the opposite … It is inconceivable for a governor to support having one group of citizens abused against a minority … As the world moves towards the recognition of same-sex rights, just as Portugal did, in granting today same-sex marriage, in Puerto Rico we want to perpetuate injustice and discrimination,' he said."

  6. Fortuño really is a douche. Nobody here likes him.
On top of this...he looks like Milhouse from The Simpsons.

  7. Actually, we should all be thanking Shirley for being as charmingly uninhibited as it seems she is.

So many homophobes today hide behind honorable-sounding words that make it harder to highlight them as the hate-ridden people they are. Shirley here wears her soul on her sleeve. Even Chuck Cooper would be hard pressed to argue her "beliefs" come from anywhere other than the sewer of her own hatred.

Keep up the good work, sweetie...you did a great job representing conservative America today. If you're ever in SF, be sure to check in with the pro-H8 folks.

If we're lucky, you might even get to testify! :)
