Give the Gays an Ultimate Wedding
Let's try and help these guys out a bit. With just 5+ hours to go, Gregory and Jonathan are closing the gap to win the Crate & Barrel Ultimate Wedding. They're about 3,000 votes behind. Help them now by voting HERE!

while i do want these two to win the contest, isnt the groom in the leading couple a retired police man who was paralyzed while ON duty? i mean come on, i think we can give this one away.

One has to sign up with Crate and Barrel in order to vote and I for one don't want spam from C&B and all the business they sell my address to. So these two guys will just have to go through life not being winners in this contest. I'm sure they will survive.

Ed and Erwin, currently number 7, have a much more compelling story and deserve it much more than a couple who are running on the 'we're gay' platform. Ed and Erwin are gay, been together 10 years, and Erwin won't live to see their 11th anniversary due to terminal cancer. They deserve the wedding far more!

ya, I kinda agree with Marc. :)

"One has to sign up with Crate and Barrel in order to vote and I for one don't want spam from C&B"
For the record, I voted for another couple a while ago; I have yet to receive any spam from them.

Cute couple, I hope they win and get to have their dream wedding at the vineyard :)
Note to Andy: Perhaps a photo would help people notice this post.

I'd happily give Crate & Barrel my email address if they'd stop sending their goddamn catalog in the mail every two weeks. It's Crate & Barrel. I know what you sell.

Umm are you serious Marc n' friends? A retired paralyzed police officer in a wheel chair?
I mean COME ON. that's practically cheating...

Vote for the boys. This isn't reality TV and it's not about whose story gets us all teary - it's about politics, power, and civil rights. For once, let's refrain from being divisive, naive, bitchy, and shooting ourselves in our collective queer foot.
If nothing else, the media frenzy resulting from a win will be delightful, and will undermine Christofascists and anti-LGBTQ politician who claim to be representing the values of average Americans.
(And as for spam, are there really people who need more than 15 seconds to create a valid, single-purpose email address which can then be ignored?)

actually, the reason so many gay blogs are asking people to vote is because the wingnuts got wind that a gay couple was in first place and they had their minions go to C&B (where I'm sure the majority of them NEVER shop) and voted the 2nd couple up to 1st.

Boycott alert!!
I'm trying to vote as of 11 pm. I entered the requested email, sent it, but I'm not getting back the message that allows me to confirm my registration and validate my vote.
Right wingers pulling a trick one more time?

I refreshed my browser and found that the 2nd-place gay couple is quickly gaining on Mary and Densey Cole, who are in 1st. (I clicked over to Facebook pages and noticed that the retired officer has a nude pic up as his Facebook profile pic. Not that I have an opinion on that; I just noticed it was an unusual choice).
But in the end, the votes will only account for 20% of Crate and Barrell's decision. The winner will be based more on factors like originality and suiting the "Crate and Barrell" lifestyle.
The winner can be anyone who is in the top 50, and will be decided by thye company.
So even the "other" gay couple could win in the end.

And one more thing: Bearing in mind that any of the top 50 can win, with 15 minutes left in voting there are in the top fourteen couples four who are gay and ten who are hetero. (#2, 9, 12 and 14 are all gay).

@Cristian
This happened to me earlier with hotmail /live. This is how I was able to cast my vote:
1-Delete individual cookies from ultimateweddingcontest.com, in firefox I browsed for "ultimate" and selected all of them pressing shift. (make sure you don't delete all your cookies, this could cause you problems with those other sites you frequent)
2- Go back to the contest page and use a non hotmail / live email.

Now that voting is over, gay couple make up two of the top 15 couples in regards to numbers of votes (Gay couples are #2, 11, 12 and 15). As I said, we don't know who will win the contest as the company only promises to select one of the top 50 couples as the final winner.

Correction: I meant to say that gay couples make up FOUR of the top 15. (And sorry about what is pretty much a double post.)

Greg and Jonathan are about 1500 votes from the lead with under 2 hours of voting left. They have almost 20,000 votes. That is amazing and says so much about the support out there for gay marriage and equality. This contest could get that word out there in a big way. Please vote. It's political for sure. But it's personal too. Greg has fought for gay rights for years through his profession and Jonathan has been a courageous and vocal advocate since he was beaten badly in a hate crime. Multiple surgeries later and a criminal that was found guilty but did no time - the support this contest has elicited has surely been a salve for some of that heartache. Rally.

Unfortunately there are only 20 minutes and it is not looking like they are going to make it.

Now it's the morning after and, like others, I was unable to vote as there is no confirmation e-mail even now.
But the prize for the biggest vote-getting couple is only a $500 gift certificate, which is minor.
To win the $100,000 dream wedding, at this point the injured cop and his female partner, Jonathan and Gregory, Ed and Erwin (the gay couple who are dealing with lung cancer) and seven other couples are all even-steven.
Using basic math cross-referenced with the rules, all of the above-named couples are 20% of the way toward winning. Two other gay couples plus eight other hetero couples are all 12% of the way toward full points to win, and thirty other couples are still in the running but have no head start.
Now they'll al be judged on originality and creativity (which counts for half) and "evoking and inspiring Crate and Barrel's lifestyle," which counts for the other 30%.
I think it's great to see four gay couples who all have a strong chance of winning.
By the way, on the Edge Boston site, I saw a letter that says it is from the injured cop's wife apologizing for the behavior of homophobes and implying that she and her male partner are in no way in agreement with them.
