8-Year Old Mimics Lady Gaga

Ladygaga Whether they be, athletes or pop stars, kids love to emulate their idols. But there are some idols they may want to put off on emulating until they're a little older. 8-year old Laura Fontana, who appeared on some Brazilian American-Idol inspired television show performing a couple of Lady Gaga songs along with a wardrobe very much inspired by the pop singer's outfits, is a perfect example of this. I was instantly reminded of this, a shot by shot remake of Britney Spears's "Toxic" music video by a 9-year old Peruvian girl. I hope this kind of thing doesn't become a trend.

After the jump, watch Laura's performance of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" and "Paparazzi."

  1. That's horrifying...and reminiscent of old-school Star Search, somehow.

  2. This is what Japanese would call "moe". Look it up. I am appaulled by everyone supporting this girl's choice (if it was even her own) and those who made the performance happen. Little girls should not dress like that and sing those songs since their is an overt sexual undertone in everything Lady GaGa does. The world needs to stop sexualizing the young. It is not good for them, this I know from my own experiences. I sure hope she does not encounter the pedobear!

  3. As someone who has grown up with Japanese culture, and, naturally, has read and been exposed to manga and anime, I can say that this young girl is _NOT_ what the Japanese otaku (anime fanatics) would call "moe".

Girls who can be characterized as "moe" tend to be young (but not 8 years old!), slim, have small faces, and wide eyes - seemingly just like the anime characters the "otaku" are obsessed with.

Also, I have taken 2 Japanese literature courses at my university which specialized in Manga (japanese graphic novels), and spoke of how the quintessential & original "moe" character may have been Chi from the manga Chobits. A real world example would be someone like Aya Ueto, and, as of late, a girl named Beckii Cruel from England - though I think she's an annoying little whore.

Sorry, I just had to insert my 2 cents.

  4. That was nothing "sexual" about her performance. If a little girl wearing a bathing suit it's what some may call sexy, then dont let kids go to a pool or the beach.
And if she was somehow, dancing "sexy" on the stage, which I dont think so, she was imitating her idol, and she was so cute trying to sing in English.

  5. Lighten up. She's a little girl. There is nothing wrong with this. Its cute.

  6. Children and the youth are lucky to have someone like Lady Gaga as a role model. She's the only one teaching kids to be themselves and not feel like they're different. Besides, Laura was merely wearing a leotard (just like any other dance student) and not writhing around like the 9-year old Peruvian.

  7. What is it with "lady gag-me"???? I thought with Andy on vacation we would be spared a gag-me reference today.

    No such luck.

It is like previous obsession (way before your time) with Ba-ba bignose. UGH.

Why do gay men have to fawn over these ugly women? Aren't there enough good-looking MEN to promote?

You're like a bunch of school girls screeming at the latest star.

geesh.... its annoying how much press this no-talent costumed feak gets!

    Enough already!

  8. The only thing wrong with all of that was that the girl had zero talent.

  9. lolz @ WIZARDBOY for the anti-Gaga comedy. Are there still people in denial? Poor things.

  10. I think you guys are taking it too seriously!
I agree about what Luigi said: "If a little girl wearing a bathing suit it's what some may call sexy, then DON'T LET KIDS GO TO A POOL OR THE BEACH!" - Btw, I bet this girl just used this bathing suit for the show, it sounds like you guys think she wears it even to go to school, relax, it's only a little kid! She's just dancing, not being "sexy", unless you're a fuckin' pedo!

If you think she was immoral, look at yourself, I bet you all listen to rap and think their "sexy" videos are awesome, do you think you're not influencin' kids?! Before talking about someone, pay attention on the reality of the world. She's innocent, how can you think she's being vulgar? It's just a dancing... Oh please...

  11. Not sexual? Tell that to the judge who was masturbating under the table.

    Posted by: crispy | Mar 3, 2010 6:46:14 PM

  12. And the police who carted him away during the performance.

I think this is really a subpar job (didn't watch it). I think it's important to tell kids from a very early age that they're not talented, and will amount to nothing. It gives them a reason to prove you wrong, or not.

  13. children in bathing suits near water is not about sex.

children in bathing suits nowhere near water is about sex.

she is a child. she needs to be dressed appropriately, and she needs to be singing a more age-appropriate song instead of being forced to pretend to be a grown woman in a child's body.

this is wrong. in the perfect world, her parents and the judges would be carted off to gitmo and she would be placed in a home where she is loved instead of objectified.

  14. To me, this is akin to those horrific child beauty pageants (glorified by Bravo's "Little Miss Perfect" and shows like it). To put an 8 year-old on television and allow her to sing a sexually suggestive song in a provocative costume (the bathing suit is not provocative - but add the boots, makeup and dance moves, and it most definitely becomes provocative) is disgusting. Children should be allowed to be children. they'll grow up to become awful adults soon enough on their own.

  15. it's so easy. no gaga, no problem. can't this blog be gaga-free for just 24 hours?

  16. children don't live in a bubble.
when I was that young we listened and danced to cheesy 90s techno-pop, and before us they imitated Madonna in the 80s, and before, I don't know, the beatles, marilyn monroe, cher, etc. and now it's lady gaga.
that's the way it is. and it's neither just bad or just good. it's complicated, with meryl streep...
    you know?

  17. Not appropriate for an 8 y.o. girl. That’s clear. There is nothing wrong with an adult displaying eroticism. For an eight y. o., come on, you know what can stem from that. She’s is talented but how the hell they dressed her (or better say, undressed her) in such a fashion? Furthermore I don’t think a child that age can stand the stress of being subjected to judgment. Parents fault.
And yeap, the judges look like old creepy folks drooling over a child. Even if they are just being nice.

  19. Seriously; not sexual? What is Lady Gaga if not sexual - without sex Lady Gaga wouldn't be. Is it wrong - not my place to say -consider that girls are losing thier virginity by age 12 and generationally it becomes younger and younger because people have been De-Sensitized to it - as with violence.

  20. That is the most unattractive child I've ever seen...and the make-up doesn't help.
