2010 Tony Award Nominations Announced


The 2010 Tony Award nominations were announced this morning. Fela! and La Cage Aux Folles led the way, with 11 nominations each.

The Best Play nominees are In the Next Room or the Vibrator Play by Sarah Ruhl, Next Fall by Geoffrey Nauffts, Red by John Logan, and Time Stands Still by Donald Margulies.

Best Revival of a Play nominees are Fences, Lend Me a Tenor, The Royal Family, and A View from the Bridge.

Best Musical nominees are American Idiot, Fela!, Memphis, and Million Dollar Quartet.

Best Revival of a Musical nominees are Finian's Rainbow, La Cage Aux Folles, A Little Night Music, and Ragtime.

  3. reminds me I've yet to see Fela! but it was a pretty boring year on Broadway (IMO). There was much better theater this season downtown and off and off-off Broadway (major case in point: Taylor Mac's The Lily's Revenge)

  6. Is anyone else surprised that Next Fall was nominated? I found it to be pretty formulaic, and I didn't find the acting that impressive either.
