Watch: Obama And Leno At White House Correspondents' Dinner

R
Obama was a hit at last night's White House Correspondents Dinner, managing to throw out quite a few zingers during his speech. He was followed by the night's featured entertainer, Jay Leno, whose very lackluster bit mentioned DADT, Sarah Palin and Eric Masa's shower encounter with Rahm Emanuel.

The President joked about Leno:

"Though I am glad that the only person whose ratings fell more than mine last year is here tonight. Great to see you Jay. I'm also glad that I'm speaking first. We've all seen what happens when somebody takes the time slot after Leno's."

Watch both of their performances, AFTER THE JUMP.

  1. Leno was terrible. I was watching it on C-SPAN and the cutaway shots to the attendees said so much. There were people picking at their food, checking their Blackberries etc., and I even saw two people yawning.

I think Obama's comments really affected him. I think Obama is on Team Coco, by the way, as everyone who's ever been kicked in the nuts by a friend/colleague (figuratively of course) should be.

  2. I was kind of embarrassed for Leno. It sure wasn't his "A" material. In fact I thought it was boring as hell. What was he thinking? Mother in law and Sarah Palin jokes? Sheesh!

  3. I remember feeling disgusted, embarassed and outraged when Boosh did his joke looking under the table for WMDS. I feel the same way with Obama using drones (that have killed many innocent civilians) in his joke about The Jonas Brothers.

  4. Does jay leno have A material? He's awful. The guy hasn't been funny in decades. The tonight show with jay leno is like watching someone die of pancreatic cancer without pain medication...slowly.

  5. who thought it was a good idea to bring dumb-ass leno to this dinner? i guess colbert, jon stewert, and letterman were perceived as too anti-repug. and, conan was probably too hot to touch right now in terms of contractual proscriptions. good gawd, leno has proved himself over and over to be a talentless jerk.

  6. Who would of thought that President Obama could make George W. Bush look good? I waited and waited for something to laugh at... I remember the good old days of Chaney and Haliburton! President Obama's jokes are like his promises... waiting for a punchline. Just like his great timely announcement that he will lift the ban on off shore drilling. However, in the words of Vice President Biden...This BLEEP is for you... or at least it sounded like that! My advice for the President... We can ask him and hopefully he Won't Tell... any more jokes!I predict, just like his one liners.... he'll be a one term President!

  7. Too bad Rodney Dangerfield is not alive to give Pres. Obama some pointers on how to deliver a joke. The only person worse than Pres. Obama was Jay Leno, and Jay Leno gets PAID to be funny (which he is not and has never been).

  8. Well, I thought Obama was very funny and had great comic timing, unlike some of you humorless queens.

  9. To Ed,(10:47AM)
I am not a QUEEN, however... I am a concerned citizen, and I have been fighting for gay rights for over 35 years. It sounds like you are a LOG CABIN REPUBLICAN!
