Montana Tea Party Leader Ousted Over Anti-Gay Facebook Comments, is Appointed to Lead New Tea Party Group

Early last month you may recall that Tim Ravndal, head of the Big Sky Tea Party Association in Montana, was removed from his position after posting Facebook remarks saying marriage should be between a man and a woman, and then expressing support for a commenter who (in apparent reference to the Matthew Shepard murder) said, "I think fruits are decorative. Hang up where they can be seen and appreciated. Call Wyoming for display instructions."

2_ravndal Ravndal, whose removal outraged some in his Tea Party group, has now been announced as the leader of a new Tea Party group based out of Helena, Montana:

"Lewis and Clark’s Conservative Tea Party, founded last month by Bobbette Madonna, a former board member of the Big Sky group, identified Ravndal as its executive director in a statement Tuesday."

KXLH reports: "In an e-mail, Ravndal said that the Lewis & Clark’s Conservative Tea Party is "organized and open for business," and that the purpose of the group is to stop the 'extremists’ outright attacks on our liberty, freedom, integrity and moral values here in Montana and across America.' The group’s founder, Bobbette Madonna, said she is extremely pleased that Ravndal, the former president of the Big Sky Tea Party Association, has been elected as the group’s executive director."

  1. "Lewis and Clark’s Conservative Tea Party, founded last month by Bobbette Madonna..."

This is real? "Lewis and Clark's Conservative Tea Party"?! "Bobbette Madonna"?!! Seriously, who's writing this stuff, Monty Python?

Looks like the Tea Party is already inevitably splitting into crazier and crazier factions. Eventually, they'll end up eating each other (and I'm not sure if I mean that figuratively or literally).

  2. This IS crazy- unfortunately, people aren't paying enough attention. I'm just hoping this doesn't turn into a violent and ugly situation. But, on the positive side, there are more and more of us in Montana committed to fighting this horseshit...

  4. Don't they realized that many historians believe that Lewis was madly in love with Clark?

  7. I'm with all the Bobette Madonna comments. That was a true belly-LOL! Crazy teabaggers... anyhow, this shows what BS it is that they're only concerned about fiscal issues.

  10. Mr Ravndal - are cousins allowed to marry in Montana, check with your parents.

Bobbette - let me guess, your brother's name is Bobby. And your Daddy is Bob and your mother is BobbiJean. Bet I'm right.

Lewis and Clark are rolling over in their graves - not because Bobbette named her hate party after them but with laughter because from most historical reading I've done they were closer than Sigfried and Roy. Ahhh, the irony. You gotta love stupid people, they make us feel so much better about ourselves.

  12. New Tea Party Group? Sounds like the Tea Party is starting to get diluted.
