So…they’re totally mocking the song’s original point, right? I just ask since usually, when I see guys like this act hypereffeminate, it’s not because they support gay rights.

  2. Bryant says

Wow. That was just super creepy. The song is horrible enough without all the weird facial expressions worthy of a band of blood-thirsty serial killers. “The call is coming from inside the house.”

  3. GregV says

@Ethan: It doesn’t look to me like they’re mocking the point at all. It just like a bunch of good-looking, young guys using an upbeat song running around town doing choreography and having fun.

  4. Ethan says

@GregV: That’s good to hear. I guess I should give these guys the benefit of the doubt. I’ve just spent a lot of time at the U of A and have found its student mentality, especially among the guys, to be incredibly unfriendly towards gay people.

  5. Ethan says

@GregV: That’s good to hear. I guess I should give these guys the benefit of the doubt. I’ve just spent a lot of time at the U of A and have found its mentality, especially among the men, to be incredibly unfriendly towards gay people (i.e., contra to the whole mindset of the original “Firework”).

  6. reality 101 says

    bravo

and there are a quite a few very handsome men in that video – Mr Ginger, Mr Bored, Mr. Muscles — just to point out a few.

Good job guys having fun…. thank god they seem to get how silly these “fan vids” are.

  7. says

At first I thought wow, isn’t it amazing some straight guys from Arkansas can do this kind of thing, what’s left for gayboys? Then they started dancing.

  8. johnny says

Looks like fun, but I’m sort of shocked by how entirely out of shape younger generations have become, if this is just a random sampling.

  9. Scott says

I saw 6 hotties.. but one was SSSSSSSoooo bored.. like his housemates made him do it.

Cute song.. I really dont care if they were staying to the theme of the song.. hot guys w/ no shirts will get my attention anytime.

Maybe we can get em to do the old Weather Girls song.. It’s raining men next time… and see them soaking wet stomping in the mud, heheheheee.

  10. says

That was a very welcome alternative to all those Fire Island twink videos, and these beefy fellas are much more my type. Vive la différence.

  11. Phil says

@Ethan: You might have met some homophobic students at U of A, but that doesn’t damn the entire student population. You’re asking us to accept your generalizations without question. Is it reasonable to judge individual students as individuals?

  12. allan says

I don’t know about you guys but the first thing that came to my mind was how fun it must be to be gangbanged by these boys. lol

  13. Dego says

I’ll take two servings of ginger-goatee cub with an extra side of flavored lube, please.

And Johnny if you think those boys were out of shape, you live in a very narrow world.

they’re in better shape and have more muscle mass that 90% of the world, let alone the rest of the USA. They just weren’t airbrushed, oiled up and lit to perfection to bring it all out.

  14. GregV says

@KevinVT: I wouldn’t assume they’re all straight. If they’re a typical group of university boys, they’re probably a mix of mostly straight and a minority of gay and/or bi guys.

@Ethan: Hearing you’ve witnessed behavior unfriendly to gay people at the U of A is disappointing but not surprising. It’s always heartening when I hear that even in the most backward of states, there are pockets of sanity especially among the young and the most educated (as in the “It Gets Better” video from Mississippi posted here yesterday).
I’d like to imagine now that you’re going to tell me that the last time you were in Arkansas was in the 1950’s, so things may have changed. (Not likely.)

  15. bboyne99 says

pretty cute guys for the most part. put a smile on my face. don’t read into it so much just a bunch of frat brothers having fun. we used to due stupid silly stuff when we were bored. they do need a little more sun though. lol.

  16. says

This looks like this is some sort of frat video. But a couple of the guys were cute, although most of them did not seem to know the words to the song.

  17. Rick S. says

“Looks like fun, but I’m sort of shocked by how entirely out of shape younger generations have become, if this is just a random sampling.”

“shocked”??? “entirely out of shape”??? Only a petty faggot like “Johnny” (who probably spends half his day staring at himself in the mirror) would make such a ridiculous claim. These guys look healthily normal for men their age.

  18. mcNnyc says

    Good for them…
Look like they were having fun…made me smile…so tired of the body fascist comments…
    Thanks andy for posting…

  19. says

I thought this was fun because they weren’t taking themselves so seriously. The reason I hate those gay videos is because they’re trying to get all the dance moves exactly right and trying to look like hot stuff at the same time. This was just a bunch of guys goofing around.

  20. Vince in WeHo says

I can’t believe there are those on here lacking the critical skills to realize that no one is making fun of anyone at all.

Really? Are you that jaded that you can’t see five or six guys obviously having fun? Why go through all the trouble with the camera work that required some thought, as well as the editing? They seem to be enjoying themselves.

I also find this a refreshing change from the Fire Island twink videos. One of those gave me reoccurring nightmares.

This one actually was a little bit inspiring and made me like Arkansas just a little bit more.

  21. J says

    Oh towlerod!

Do you have to make me horny again?

I’ve just jacked off thrice in the past couple of hours and now I see this!

    I hope I can resist!!!

  22. says

Let’s be very clear here: not one of these guys is out of shape. This is what being truly in-shape looks like. ‘Zero body fat’ is not a healthy aspiration.

  23. ZNV says

I kept wanting to enjoy it, but that song is so incredibly awful that I couldn’t even make it halfway

  24. Eric Shaw says

I thought the video would be lame but I liked it haha I’ll take the tall dark & beefy one with the hat. My inquiry, no situps in Arkansas?

  25. Kelly in Atlantic City says

I loved it. They looked like they were having fun. Boys dancing without shirts always grabs my attention.

  26. says

It’s nice to see a bunch of guys doing something fun, silly, and harmless, that doesn’t involve destroying property or hurting anyone. If everybody would chill out and have a good time like that once in a while, the world would be a much happier place to live in.

  27. craig says

    DISCLAIMER!!COMMENT NOT SAFE FOR WORK!:

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! I want this GINGER in my room. Forever or forever, every night I’ll do him harder!

  28. johnny says

“Only a petty faggot like “Johnny” (who probably spends half his day staring at himself in the mirror) ….”

Thanks, Rick S., you confirmed my belief that a lot of sad gay men like you love slinging hate names around for zero reason. It was simply an opinion. Your opinion is allowed, but you just can’t allow anyone else to have their own? Interesting.

  29. Rick S. says

“Thanks, Rick S., you confirmed my belief that a lot of sad gay men like you love slinging hate names around for zero reason. It was simply an opinion. Your opinion is allowed, but you just can’t allow anyone else to have their own? Interesting.”

“Zero reason.” Nice try at distortion, Johnny, but I definitely had my “reason,” and just as distorted is this idea that criticizing you means I am trying to censor you (“but you just can’t allow anyone else to have their own?”).

Bryan Safi made a similar point in his recent skewering of the “Gay List” in which some petty queen dismissed a handsome guy with normal body mass as being “totally fat.” This is a very sick tendency among gay men and it deserves to be criticized.

  30. Mark from NYC says

DBACK, TJ, KEN: Back up, bitches! The ginger one with the moves and the gay eyebrow lift is *mine* — and I can get him cause I know where Fayetteville actually is…

  31. John says

I went to the U of A with these guys and know a couple of them (acquaintances)- they are actually really nice individuals. I never had any reason to think that they were homophobic. They’re just having fun, and it brings back great memories of the U of A. It’s a liberal college town with conservative pockets in the student body (ie in the Greek community, ag community, etc.) I don’t believe, however, that the larger student population is hostile to gay students. Great video and Go Hogs!

  32. jaragon says

Lighten up guys- this was funny and sexy-( just imagine helping all those shirtless dudes get warm after they frolic in the snow…)

  33. shannon says

WHAT IS THE POING OF THIS IDIOTIC STUFF????? WHY DO THESE GUY THKNK IT FUNNY AND CUTE TO GET NAKED IN THE SNOW AND SING A DANCE??? THIS IS ‘FUNNY”???? THIS SHOWS HOW LACK OF TALENT AND UTTER DOUCHES THEY ARE…

  34. johnny says

@RickS: The distortion is yours. Simply because we disagree about whether or not these guys are in shape is simply not a good reason IN ANY CASE to call another gay man a “petty faggot”.

It keeps the worst word you can call a gay man and your use of it attempts to normalize a slur as if it were nothing. If I was a black man, would you call me a “petty n*gger?” It’s exactly the same type of slur. Not necessary in any conversation, no matter how contentious.

It’s wrong and you know it, but you’ll probably go on defending yourself as “correct”. Have at it, but you can’t un-ring that bell, sir.

  35. Rick S. says

“It’s wrong and you know it, but you’ll probably go on defending yourself as ‘correct’. Have at it, but you can’t un-ring that bell, sir.”

    Faggot.

  36. wimsy says

You drunken fairies have to argue about every single thing posted on this site. What poor, lonely, pathetic, useless lives you must lead.

  37. Gabe R L says

Only two guys in the vid did anything for me-the ginger-haired one and the pretty one with the really dark eyes. The rest eww.

  38. says

I think it is awesome. All I could think about was how a group of cute, probably mostly straight guys enjoyed a song enough to make this video. Can you imagine how many times they had to sing and dance it out to that track? I think it shows people breaking through social boundaries and having a good time.

  39. GG says

At 2:40 one of them does the move Jake Gyllenhaal did in his cameo on the “Iran” SNL Digital Short. Hmmmm.

  40. Kaila says

Ok, yeah they were hot, but what was with the unbelievably incredible production values? This was supposed to be a stupid simple frat video it looked more like a short from a film school or something. There were times when I wondered if it was a joke or if they were being serious.

I would have liked to have seen a lot more nudity and a lot fewer “emotional camera angles”.

  41. jrcpoet says

Someone said out of shape? REALLY? They’re college boys. Not 100% buff, sure, but dear Jeebus — they aren’t out of shape!

  42. Miguel says

@Johnny Out of shape? What I’m shocked at is how shallow and skewed some people’s sense of what is in shape and what isn’t has evolved lately. Underweight and unhealthy does not equal In shape. Sorry to burst your bubble

  43. WIMSY says

Sorry, guys, about that last homophobic comment… I’m probably just a typical self-hating closet case. And I’d gladly give each of those hot college dudes the best BJ they’ve ever had!

  44. Ben says

GAWD THAT RED HEAD!! Agree with everyone who wants him BADLY!! Damn, FUN time I bet in bed with that hottie!!

  45. Beau says

C’mon guys, don’t be hatin’. It’s just a bunch of guys that watch “Glee” too much. I thought it was fun to watch, and I bet it was even more fun to make. Maybe it was for a class, whatever the reason, it was fun to watch them have fun.

  46. says

Just when you thought you had seen every parody and tribute to Katy Perry, here comes a bunch of energetic shirtless dudes from the University of Arkansas in their own creative nod to “Firework.”

The video is already trending high on YouTube and one of the most shared videos in Tulsa and Memphis, two big cities that sandwich Arkansas. The video has racked up over 130,000 hits in just a couple of days and is on its way to viral status.

Oh, how I miss college life!
