Ashton Kutcher to Replace Charlie Sheen on 'Two and a Half Men'

Kutcher

Ashton Kutcher will be replacing Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men. Kutcher noted it on Twitter last night (above).

The L.A. Times:

CBS, studio Warner Bros. and Kutcher's reps at Creative Artists Agency declined to comment on the situation but a deal is said to be all but signed. The exact dollar figure he will be paid is not known, but a source says Kutcher is getting a "huge payday" to join the hit sitcom.

The deal came together quickly after Hugh Grant passed on the opportunity to join the show. Now sources say "Men" creator Chuck Lorre has crafted a storyline to introduce Kutcher in a way that satisfies the network and studio. "It's really funny," says one source. "People are going to love it."

  2. Ashton Kutcher has had a flop movie career so a foray into television doesn't surprise.

  3. Hmm, this actually sounds like a interesting idea. Kutcher is best on the small screen.

  4. @ Brian... "a foray into television"?

where've you been? Kutcher is close to a prodigy in television; starring, developing, producing, directing.

Plus, he's younger & can draw a huge crowd... there really isn't a downside for these guys.

  5. Interesting that after Sheen and Grant they finally decided to go with somebody likeable for this role. Since he's too young to play an over-the-hill playboy, they must be taking the show in something of a new direction. I have never understood how this mess is such a success.

  6. So does that mean that Kutcher is going to take on the role of Charlie, the OLDER brother to Allen? Or Charlie just going to disappear and we suddenly have an unknown illegitimate brother who swoops in conveniently. Oh, or maybe Charlie had plastic surgery!!!

    Just cancel the show.

  7. @BRIAN: His first acting role was That 70s Show. I still won't be watching this godawful sitcom, but if you're going to be judgmental, you could at least not be stupid about it.

  8. I guess Kutcher wants to be attached to a highly-rated TV show. Fine.

But why "Two and a Half Men"?! That stinker's about as funny as a dose of the clap. If you were ever stuck on an American Airlines cross-country flight and had to watch this atrocity, you'll understand my nausea. What a crappy show. Charlie Sheen has the sparkling comic timing of a Soviet state funeral.

I have to go back to "Yes, Dear" to think of a worse sitcom.

  9. How much do I LOVE this quote?: "Charlie Sheen has the sparkling comic timing of a Soviet state funeral."

BULLSH*T, show us proof he is popular. The guy has had movie flop after movie flop. He is unlikeable.

And guys, I'm not sure with Robert Pattinson and the fact he is married to a woman older to be his MOM, the tweens will still go watch him?!

I was in my early 20's when he was big!

But hey, the gays LOVE him like they love anyone!

  11. LLLLOVE him! I'll finally start watching the show.
