German Doctors Advertise Gay 'Cure' On Website

Ucp

A Catholic medical group in Germany called the Union of Catholic Physicians is offering a "gay treatment" on its website (screenshot above). Weekly news magazine Spiegel reports:

The religious association, which calls itself the "voice of the Catholic medical community," writes on its website that while "homosexuality is not an illness," a host of treatments are available to keep such "inclinations" at bay. Possibilities include "constitutional treatments with homeopathic tools … such as homeopathic dilutions like Platinum," "psychotherapy," and "religious counseling." Among homeopathy's controversial treatments are the prescription of "Globuli," tiny pills that consisting mostly of sugar. "We know about a number of people with homosexual feelings who find themselves in a spiritual and psychological emergency and suffer greatly," UCP head Gero Winkelmann told SPIEGEL in a written statement. "If someone is unhappy, ill or feels they are in an emergency, they should be able to find options for help with us."

Germany's Lesbian and Gay Federation reacts: "'The offerings are dangerous,' said spokeswoman Renate Rampf. 'They use the insecurities of homosexual or bisexual young people and their parents.' Such 'laughable' therapeutic ministrations are problematic because they can be 'destabilizing.'"

  1. The only thing that could turn me straight is Bobby Trendy's fashion sense. Otherwise, those Germans should know by now that they should stop trying to 'get rid' of... well, maybe you can see what I'm getting at.

  2. Why cant they just let us be ourselves?

    Posted by: sileen | Jun 4, 2011 12:24:01 PM

  3. Because they're organized religion, that's why! It's whole purpose is to deny sexual pleasure and insist we all worship Death instead.

  4. @sileen: they envy us too much because they cannot be themselves.

    Or something.
I'm sure it's got something to do with that. It's certainly the case for closeted ministers preaching anti-gay bull crap like Ted Howard.

  5. UGH! TALK ABOUT MEDIEVAL! This church just won't stop until we're all in stockades or prison. I think the clergy are SO sexually frustrated, and NOW with gays living open lives and in relationships they're practically apoplectic! They're deranged with rage that modern gay people can accept their homosexuality and lead productive fulfilling lives. And they're jealous because they're so locked into a self-loathing homosexual mind-set that the lives normal gay people lead are beyond bearable to them. What ugliness and sadness. The clergy are the homosexual pathology.

  6. Most of the clergy in the Catholic church are gay. And they're typically strongly self-loathing for that "sin" they perceive to be deep within them. They howl in outrage at normal, well-adjusted gay people living normal gay lives in the 21st century. They are envious of our comfort, of our normalcy, of our self-acceptance. And their unrelenting drive to demonize us is just a reflection of their angry self-hatred vented outward toward others.

  7. The real problem is self-hating gays. If they weren't entertaining ideas like this, the "treatments" would disappear.

  8. What can you expect from the sexually repressed roman cult, among others? They know they're losing the cultural war and that we're slowly winning. Their days are numbered, not ours and they don't like it. The more power we gain, the more they lose. They're on a collision course with extinction, so be it.

  9. I checked the website, they left the page intact at http://www.bkae.org/index.php?id=439 but changed the headline. Other than that, they actually expanded the section on 'treatment'. Disgusting.

  10. You need to put it in perspective, The Catholic Church still believes in exorcism for demonic possession. These people are delusional.

  11. "We know about a number of people with homosexual feelings who find themselves in a spiritual and psychological emergency and suffer greatly"

and, duh, people like the Union of Catholic Physicians are part of the reason why. this is similar to certain domestic abuse scenarios -- the abuser assumes the dual role of tormentor/comforter

  13. @Sileen--the REAL question is, "why can't they just let THEMSELVES be themselves?"

I'd bet my next paycheck that all of these physicians are closet-cases who can't stand the idea of gay people who can be comfortable with ourselves when they can't be.

  14. I'd like to see their claims documented in a peer-reviewed journal.

  15. I'd like to see these "physicians" stripped of their licenses to practice medicine, since they are advocating a "treatment" (for a non-existent disorder) that has repeatedly been demonstrated to be utterly ineffective in its purported aims AND potentially lethal (suicide). These people are not only quacks, they are extremely dangerous.

  16. "The of the Catholic Medical Community" has a truly bizarre ring to it… Kind of the like "The voice of Scientologist astronomers…"

  17. "homeopathic dilutions like Platinum"

HUH? They are going to shove platinum up which orifice?

    They are just ludicrous.

  19. Here's a suggestion for them. Why don't they use these "treatments" to keep the heterosexuals "inclination" to pro-create at bay. After all, they're the ones who are endangering our planet by overpopulating it beyond it's capacity to sustain us.

Of course when that happens, they'll find a way to blame homosexuals for mankinds demise.

Jesus, save us from your most ardent followers!

  21. I always marvel at this: Any time some "doctor" proposes some "therapy" to change sexual orientation, the change is always in the direction from gay to straight.

@SILEEN: You ask why can't the catholic church let us be ourselves. Are you kidding me? If we were socially encouraged to be ourselves and to live fulfilling lives, we would have no reason to go to church. The last thing a church wants is an empty house (that means no donors).

@DANCOBB: The fact that the catholic church clergy are sexually frustrated is only part of the reason for their opposition to gay rights. The main reason is the loss of power over people that would result from the de-brainwashing of the closeted gays. The church is an institution and like any other religious institution it fights for one and one thing only: money and power of people's minds. Letting people lead normal fulfilling lives results in loss of power over people's minds and hearts (and money). It's always been and always will be about power and money. It couldn't be about anything else when you think about it. :-)

    Finally,

@DANNY who would "like to see their claims documented in a peer-reviewed journal" Oh please! Deep down, even the church clergy members themselves know that this is beneath scientific review and downright laughable/absurd. They push for these stupid ideas not because they're confident they'll hold up to rational scrutiny. Rather, it's because they're confident (as they have always been) that the vast majority of people are so stupid they can't think for themselves, so they'll indulge anything that enforces their well-entrenched prejudices.

This is the way it's been for centuries. My ex-boyfriend used to say "think about how stupid the average person is, and then think about the fact that half the population is even stupider" :-(
