Why are we dogging this man? What is the GOAL? Do we want his wife to drop out of the presidential race? Do we want to shut down his reparative therapy “clinics”? Do we want to throw glitter at them? What is the PLAN?

  2. Michael says

In other words…Don’t ask my anything about what I have said in the past or what I do as a “job creator”…
In fact don’t ask me anything just let me ramble off some more nonsense….It’s what I do best cause I’m Cute, White, “Chirstian” and if it worked for Palin Why not me???

“Remember it was Michele Obama who said she is only recently proud of her country and so these are very anti-American views. That’s not the way that most Americans feel about our country.” – Michelle Bachmann, commenting on the views of a presidential candidate’s spouse in 2008 on on the MSNBC program Hardball with Chris Matthews.

  4. Thomasina says

Normally, I would say that she is correct that only her background, experience, and opinions matter, not her husband’s, since she is the one running for president. However, she herself has said several times that she often does things that are counter to her instincts or that she doesn’t want to do because her husband told her to do them, and her religion requires wives to be “submissive” to their husbands (Colossians 3:18):

“Marcus told her ‘to go and get a post-doctorate degree in tax law.’ This was not a particular desire of Michele’s (‘Tax law? I hate taxes!’), but she was certain God was speaking through her husband. ‘Why should I go and do something like that?’ she recalled thinking. ‘But the Lord says, “Be submissive wives; you are to be submissive to your husbands.”‘”

She can’t BOTH say that she does things she “hates” just because her husband orders her to AND complain because people are asking her about her husband’s opinions on things. If we elect any person who takes his or her orders from someone else, we deserve to know what that someone else’s orders are likely to be.

  5. PLAINTOM says

To paraphrase a friend of her’s “She can run but she cannot hide.” Doesn’t she sound totally robotic when she goes into her defense mode,”I’m running for the…blah, blah, blah.”

  6. Matt26 says

No questions about anything, please. Doesn’t work that way Michelle. You should know better. Your past and family are very important part of your campaign. Start talking.

  7. RyanInSacto says

@WILL: The “goal” is the truth. We want this presidential candidate to tell us the truth about whether or not she co-owns a business that practices a dangerous “therapy” that often results in depression and suicide attempts. Is that clear enough for you?

  8. ohplease says

@Will, calm down and think of your blood pressure.

What is the “PLAN”? Seriously? The “PLAN” is to keep her from being the President of the United States of America. The way that will happen is by exposing every criminal, immoral, unethical, fraudulent, hateful, delusional, hypocritical and generally un-Presidential aspect of her entire being. And, for her, that is one long list.

On that list is the fact that she and her husband profit from a business — using taxpayers’ money — that fraudulently claims to turn gay people straight and her husband, himself, who has a fake degree from a sham online college and is not either educated or licensed to practice in his chosen field, is a gay man.

I hope that clears it up for you.

  9. Gigi says

@Will Sorry you’re upset that people keep asking Mrs. Bachmann pesky questions. She and her husband own a clinic that takes money from the Federal Government yet she rails against gov’t pork. Not to mention that they’re using aversion therapy to “change” people from gay to straight – a practice that the APA has said is unsafe and possibly dangerous. Her refusal to answer questions about the clinic make it look as though she has something to hide. Which of course she does.

  10. will says

Well, at the very least, this shows that socially conservative politicians are getting more and more uncomfortable and vexed regarding addressing gay issues of any kind. In the past it was so EASY. You gave your (bigoted) views and there was never any political fallout or payback. It was win-win, not just in the conservative bubble, but in the general population. Times have changed.

  11. brent says

It is TOTALLY pertinent to ask her these questions, they are not “off-limits”. She is nuts if she thinks she can skate by without answering these questions. I’m surprised Ed Rollins is telling her to continue with this. Oh well, she’s finished after Iowa anyway.

  12. Codswallop says

Yeah, because her religious beliefs and the fact that her husband practices a form of “therapy” called destructive and dangerous by all non-religion based medical/psychiatric groups has no bearing on her potential *cough BS* Presidency?

    Yeah, right.

But she’s toast anyway. So what have Mitt Romney and the other candidates who have a snowball’s chance in hell of actually getting the nomination been up to? The Bachmann’s are fun to poke with sticks but it’s wasting energy on a sideshow while the main acts are gearing up and nobody’s paying attention.

  13. JimmyD says

Michele? See how well refusing to answer questions worked for your soul sister Sarah. You’re on your way to being box office poison soon enough.

  14. chuck b. says

If she doesn’t like the question, she can pray that it goes away. That will work, right?

  15. matt says

Why don’t they just ask her, if you were President of the United States, do you believe that gays chose to be gay and if so, would you support legislation that pays for reparative therapy like the one your husband’s clinic provides? Since obviously you have financially benefited from this destructive practice.

  16. will says

Ok, we need to organize ourselves into factions: If Marcus Bachmann continues to run his reparative therapy clinic, we need some new-style “activists” to stalk him and throw glitter!

And if Michele Bachmann continues to avoid uncomfortable questions, another “activist” faction will monitor her moves and throw additional glitter.

I’ve taken the liberty of buying 6,000 pounds of glitter. I hope this lasts us throughout the summer.

  17. says

Bachmann helped deny funding to Planned Parenthood based on a LIE about what P.P. does with the money it gets.

Now shes been shown to be lying about what tax dollars have been used for at her husband’s clinics.

    so, yeah. it’s relevant.

  18. Rowan says

WILL, you’re not funny. Do you really think only glitter spray has been done to her?

Actually I’m assuming there is more….right? More strategy?

Anyway WILL you won’t know of the strategy because it would mean the Right would know it. That’s why no one is going into extensive plans.

  19. says

Well, obviously such questions do not help her politically, and they’re off-message for her. And, unless she’s entirely brain-dead, which isn’t impossible, she knows she’s in a sham marriage with a homosexual who’s running a sham clinic partly on the goverment’s (that big evil government, except when it benefits her family) dime.

Frankly, I’m tiring of the Bachmann stories. Even if she were to win some primaries, the Republican party will never in a million years let her get anywhere near the nomination. Her husband’s clinic is a real threat to the poor souls who go there seeking false guidance, but in terms of the Presidency, the Mormons and Texans in the field need to be taken down first.

  20. Tone says

What question does she suppose will be on the lips of every reporter from now on? The fourth estate doesn’t just lie down because you want them to. If anything it makes reporters dig deeper and deeper and deeper…

  21. says

Most children learn that if they play with fire they may get burned. She never learned that lesson (or, more likely, insisted it didn’t apply to her) so she married a flamer and now….

If Marcus was a real Ph.D. from a real school and had a real practice doing real counseling then Michelle wouldn’t have to take this heat. Furthermore, they take tax money for their scam (and farm subsidies, too), then she decries Federal spending from the floor of the House of Representatives.

She’s fair game. So is “he”.

  22. says

WTF is a “jot and tiddle” ?? She is a COMPELTE disaster. She should have been pressed to answer the damned question.

  23. says

Glittering people makes us look as stupid as them. ENOUGH with the ‘fairy dust’ ! Start organizing and force reporters to press these hateful, insane morons to answer legitimate questions.

  24. ohplease says

I’m not a big fan of the glitterbombing, but it is good for one thing and that’s getting attention, and I believe the attention it’s focused on the Bachmanns is one of the reasons why this is being addressed at all.

  25. pdxblueyes says

She sounds like a POW. Name, Position sought and no questions. OVER AND OVER AND OVER. By the by, I thought tiddle meant “to pee”

  26. just_a_guy says

The money that comes in from Michelle Bachman’s husband’s “clinic” is BLOOD money. His clinic is designed to MURDER gay souls, to butcher them out of their own bodies.

You BET that matters to MICHELLE BACHMAN’S running for president. SHE AND HER HUSBAND HAVE NO SOUL; they perpetuate unconscionable horrors as a “business.”

    That matters, sorry.

  27. Jotto says

I tried to pray the gay away and all it did was make me forget math…I want answers!
PSA: Don’t pray away the gay or you will forget math.
