In case you haven't heard, marriage equality went into effect in New York State today, and, yes, news crews have been following every move.
Check out the Associate Press video, including footage of truly sweet elderly lesbians tying the knot, AFTER THE JUMP...

nothing better than that sweet couple at the end.

That lovely couple at the end... teared me up. While this is 'just' a legal thing (especially when people have been together for years), it can mean the difference between someone keeping their house or not when one of the couple pass away, and now they are safe.
A perfect moment.

Hatred takes a holiday today! A day of joy after fighting and waiting for so, so long!

So much happiness, joy and love.

@JIM, I'm celebrating too, believe me, but hatred NEVER takes a holiday. NOM is there, Senator Diaz is there, the Westboro Baptist Church is there. But this day will pass, many others will marry and it will become ordinary, no big deal except for the parties involved. Eventually we'll win.

A historic day for America. I'm so glad I'm getting to see this happen in my lifetime.

I love the end of the clip with the 2 old ladies getting married - how sweet! And how absolutely thrilling, too.
