  1. I've always liked that Diana Nyad embodies the mythological origins of her name so well: Diana, Naiad.

Hear, hear! This is a step in the right direction, and long overdue. It's time for the world to realize that women sometimes have penises, and men sometimes have vaginas. Trans is beautiful!!!

  3. Wow, the Sharia Zone poster is seriously scary, it's like one step from a Nazi poster. If you are not taking the Crazy Bachmann parade seriously then you are a fool. These people are dangerous because they may be able to rally their minions to the poles. Any intelligent person that DOES NOT exercise their vote for Obama is playing with fire, this is not a game to those people. They believe they answer to a higher being than you or I so anything they do is justified in his name.

  5. Nipple foot—definitely freaky, especially since it's fully formed.

  6. @David R, Torchwood Season 4 is currently airing on Starz. This Friday will be Episode 3.

I've watched the last two eps, but I have no idea what this article is referring to. It says that this sexy scene has already aired in the States, but I can promise you that it has not yet -- but it better!

  7. I'm good friends with the parents of Ming Linsley and let me tell you--those inn owners messed with the wrong lesbians. Their resumes are filled with social justice causes and they will bring that place down if they have to. As Julia Roberts said in "Pretty Woman": Big Mistake.

Are you serious or is this tongue in cheek? Women NEVER have penises and men NEVER have vagina's. Physiology 101. And don't give me we can be whatever we want bs.

  10. @RONTEX The Sharia poster was not created by the Bachmann's or their supporters but by Islamist extremists in the UK (not the US). It's a piece of street theater intimidation. The best analogy would be southern style lynchings. It has no legal backing, so the Bachmann campaign to stop Sharia law precedents is irrelevant.

  11. I'm like the native americans on this one...there is a third gender. Male, Female, and Special.

It's society telling them that if men like frilly things, long hair, makeup and wigs that's "female" instead of having ovaries, lactation devices, etc. And male is being tough, butch, etc. They believe this stuff because its socialized that this is what male and female is, instead of just stupid old biology.

So much pressure to label...so much. The ancients just were fluid. I wish we were.

Anon, it does not need to have legal backing in the UK for British Islamists to kill you. Britain is long gone.

  13. @ Max, agree, my point is it doesn't have to be "legal" to entice someone to action, just incendiary. I grew up in the Southern bible belt, these people are just waiting for the match.

  18. If you actually read the British Butcher's statement (instead of the Daily Mail's inaccurate headline which was repeated here), he didn't put up posters saying he's not gay. The text is non-homophobic and does not anywhere mention whether he is gay, straight or bi.
It says that rumors that he is breaking up his family to run off with a man are false and are hurting his kids.

  19. @ JUSTME: Thanks! Now I have more to look forward to than "just" the movie. We don't have cable, so we'll have to wait for Netflix or the local video store.

@ RIN: I totally agree that we need to be more accepting the two-spirit idea/label; but people like to use categories to organize a complex world and binary male/female is so simple—but we don't have to be simple now, do we?
