Michele and Marcus Bachmann Heckled by Gay Protester at Iowa State Fair: VIDEO

Isf_bachmann

Following a three-minute speech at the Iowa State Fair, Michele Bachmann was heckled by the same man who confronted Tim Pawlenty earlier today.

The heckling began as Bachmann and her husband Marcus began working the crowd at the edge of the stage, the Des Moines Register reports:

She said she was going to shake hands but left the makeshift stage quickly when 17-year-old civil rights advocate Gabe Aderhold of Edina, Minn., loudly questioned her husband Marcus about his counseling techniques to “pray the gay away.”

Most of her three minutes consisted of frequent campaign rhetoric that she says at many of her stops, such as her chant to make President Obama a “one-term president.”

Aderhold also began yelling "shame on you" at the Bachmanns as supporters tried to shield the couple with campaign signs.

Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

Here's another video, a bit better quality:

  4. We are from Canada (Toronto) and we watch how your country is struggling with the tea partiers/ultra-conservatives but are hopeful for you when we see a 17-year old voicing his opinion to be an american with equal rights.

  5. At moments like this, I'm so proud of you Towleroad and extended Towleroad community. It makes me see hope for democracy. The Bachmans' brutality represents the center and heart of the "family values" lies the Republican party has been using to manipulate the country for decades. It's time that any REAL evangelical sees these lies for what they are.

Education, mutual respect (through contraceptive access), and embracing humanity's diversity are keys to lasting marriages, happier families, and less teen pregancy. Scapegoating the gays at best keeps the status quo of violence and oppression in too many families. Time to grow up America, the key to strengthening REAL family values is self-responsibility, and a culture of personal growth. By contrast, scapegoating gay people and indulging in your taught-hate in the name of religion is antithetical to all that was ever great about America. Did religious-based persecution ever make the America we respect a shining beacon?!!!

  6. It's about time they get dragged out of their protective little bubbles and hear from those who of us who don't agree with their "vision" for America. It's important they realize that a vast majority of Americans are no longer drinking their kool-aid.

Did you notice how quickly their fight or flight response kicked in once confronted?

They chose to flee. Typical of cowards and bullies.
