road Actor Ryan Rottman will appear on 90210 next season as "smart, handsome gay 20-something who is confident in his identity and is committed to fighting for marriage equality." road Seriously? Ultimate fighter Rodrigo Nogueira says he won't train with gay people: "I have no prejudice against the gays, but I wouldn't train with someone who's gay. I have no malice, I don't take our physical contact as (something) sexual. But what if the gay person has that malice of having physical contact with me, of staying there grappling? I would have no problems having a gay student in my academy, but I would rather not train with him."

road IBM's new computer chip is based on the human brain: "Each of IBM's brain-mimicking silicon chips is a few square millimetres in size and holds a grid of 256 parallel wires that represent dendrites of computational 'neurons' crossed at right angles by other wires standing in for axons. The 'synapses' are 45-nanometre transistors connecting the criss-crossing wires and act as the chips' memory; one chip has 262,144 of them and the other 65,536. Each electrical signal crossing a synapse consumes just 45 picajoules – a thousandth of what typical computer chips use."

  2. If you have to say "I'm not prejudiced BUT..." then you are prejudiced.

  5. Good to know high-waters are back in fashion.

Wish I had saved those pants from 4th grade, when they only made you look like a welfare case whose parents could only afford to shop at Goodwill..

    I coulda made a fortune!!!

(Sorry, high-waters are not even attractive on James Marsden.)

  6. @IBM: Too bad it's for BS.. People have been working on this neural net crap for 50 years and it's amounted to nothing.

If you want a real technical accomplishment that is having a real impact on computing, look here instead:

    http://www.zdnet.com/blog/computers/why-intels-22nm-technology-really-matters/5703

Unfortunately, Intel does not play the PR tricks IBM does. But in engineering circles, Intel's accomplishment in delivering 22-nm FINFET technology is breathtaking and puts them head-and-shoulders above everyone else.

  7. Hasn't pedophilia been legal for clerical members of the cathlick church since 6000 years ago - when the Earth was born?

Isn't the story that their god raped a 12-year-old to start a new religion when he got bored with the jews? Well, if it's good enuf for god, surely it's good enuf for all those men in drag claiming to be god's representatives on earth...

These are "men of god". They said so. That makes it true!

  8. I hope folks with a Yahoo account will go to the Tim Hardaway story and comment. The phobes are expressing their disappointment at Hardaway's acquisition of a soul.

  9. Almost all the guys who have this "I don't want to touch/associate/sleep etc. with a gay man" are ugly dudes, who no-one would desire sexually.

Based on the comments I read on the UFC website discussing this, it's about 50-50 in terms who who agree/disagree with his comments. It's almost comical how these guys, who fight and live in gyms, are so insecure and unnerved when it comes to anything gay related. Highlights how much some people are mentally destroyed by our culture that promote this sort of fear.

and..."gay sport port for straight guys"...jaragon@that is fan-quality wit!

  11. I sure hope that these straight guys who are so concerned about unwanted sexual advances are also working to prevent unwanted sexual advances by straight men on women. Of course they probably aren't.

  13. I read the comments about the James Marsden spread and I found out that I'm not a total loser when it comes to fashion. The pants are too short and the outfits are too tight. Other than that, I love the socks! I hate plain dress socks.

As for the Nick Cage movie-Peggy Sue! I think that is one of Kathleen Turner's best movies.

Posted by: Grover Underwood | Aug 19, 2011 9:06:47 PM

  14. Nogueira is definitely prejudiced and/or afraid - the big sissy.

    Posted by: justinw | Aug 19, 2011 10:46:17 PM

  15. Alas. . . most of Nic Cage's movies suck, but Peggy Sue was probably one of the gems of his career. And, except the War of the Roses, it was probably the last really good film role Kathleen Turner ever had (Hollywood sure wasted her talent).

  16. You don't want to be 18 again? I suspect you're not being entirely honest. Accepting things you cannot change is one thing, but let's not pretend 18 isn't one of the best ages to be.

    Posted by: Randy | Aug 20, 2011 12:00:28 PM

  17. @Randy

Maybe for Andy it wasn't. I'd like to be 18 again (well, not really, I'm very much in favour of linear time) because I was a well adjusted and happy person then. Most of my friends feel the opposite though, they didn't care for their teen years.

    Posted by: Eric26 | Aug 20, 2011 3:54:07 PM

  18. I agree with Grover Underwood above, love the socks on Marsden! I have a vast array of flashy socks myself hee hee. As for Nogueira, does he realize half the audience for UFC is gay guys who like the rough and tumble of pumped half-naked men?
