Michele Bachmann Asked if She Would Be Submissive to Her Husband: GOP DebateVIDEO
Here's an excellent compilation from YouTube clipper Dave Evans of a range of questions on social issues (I've already hit some of it in earlier posts), which includes this hissed-at question to Michele Bachmann (at about 3:25):
As president, would you be submissive to your husband?
Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

Nice dodge, michelle.
On a serious note I was expecting her to say "I try...*sad face* but he won't let me!"

It's actually an appropriate question for conservatives, even if its an offensive question for everyone else. Practice what you preach and whatnot.

Still doesn't explain why someone would study for a degree in tax law, when they have absolutely no interest in doing so. That isn't reciprocal respect for one another, that's submission. The question is completely valid, her response isn't.

Fare question if she professes to stand by the bible in all that she does.

If I were her I would have said..."I try, but Marcus is too sub to be top...."

I can't believe Santorum would force a woman to have a child that was created through rape!! He says the abortion would be too traumatic for her?....but what about the 9 months she will be forced to carry a rapists child then has to go through a long painful child birth?! What a nut job!!

Submission ≠ Respect

the only way marcus would want her to submit if she was wearing a strap on, a very large one.

It's a hugely asinine & sexist question.
The company you keep, I suppose.

I thought *he* was the submissive one ...

@Pete: It's not asinine nor sexist when Bauchmann dictates that all women should be submissive to their husbands?

@BRAVO: Very good, it is a legitimate question. But, Bachmann like the majority of evangelicals, or perhaps most christians are what I call Chines menu or cafeteria christians. Hypocrites, one and all. They pick and choose what they believe. It must be so, otherwise she wouldn't be out of the house and she certainly wouldn't be able to speak without hubby's permission or hold public office.
But when I point this out I'm reminded that christian's aren't perfect, they're forgiven. Since I don't accept their mythical beings, I'm told I am not forgiven or saved.

Michelle I do have to give it to you. I think you dodged that better than Neo.

Isn't it the same as when JFK was asked if he would take orders from the Pope since he was Catholic? Voting for Michelle might be putting her husband in the driver's seat if she's biblical enough. Maybe he does wear the pants in the family, who knows.

As I strong supporter of Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, I would ask her to understand that many Americans who are not Evangelical Chritians cannot relate to what she said at the church service in 2006. She needs to make it clear that if Marcus walked into the Oval Office and said "Michele, as your husband I order you to Nuke Iran," she would throw him out! She would not say: "Gee, I do not want to start World War III, but since the Bible commands me to be submissive to my husband, BOMBS AWAY!"

It's interesting that when Scriptures does not fit Michelle's life, she changes the word to fit. Respect is not the same as submissiveness, and in the original Greek the original word clearly translated means to submit, there is another word entirely for respect. They are not the same in Greek nor in English.
So just like Michelle's company takes government funds for their work even though she says she's against those kinds of government payments, just like Michelle took a government backed loan for her mortgage and then not a mere two weeks late is out rallying against government back home lonas, just like Michelle and her family gets farm subsidies when she's preaching against it, when a Biblical concept doesn't fit her life, she rewrites it. What's the word for a person like this...oh, that's right, hypocrite.

Huntsmann came off better than anyone else from our view, obviously.
Santorum gets dumber every time he speaks. Come on, you want to preserve the genetics of someone who would rape someone?

She'd better be submissive or he'll elbow her into a shopping cart.
