Gay Activists to Protest Chick-Fil-A Opening in Hollywood

Chickfila A new Chik-Fil-A restaurant is opening at 6750 W. Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood on Saturday, and activists angry over the company's anti-gay policies will be there for it:

Bring your own signs, banners, and flyers to educate the public of the virulently anti-gay policies and donations of this bigoted corporation. They actively suppress gay rights and the rights of anyone who isn't Right-wing Christianist. A coalition of LGBT people, gay rights organizations, animal rights organizations, and other progressive, fair-minded organizations and people are forming a coalition to protest this store making MILLIONS in OUR community for their bigoted "cause". Come one, come all - and STAND UP FOR JUSTICE, DIGNITY, and EQUALITY!!

Some background here.

  1. Chick-fil-a is one of the healthiest fast food chains out there. I really wish there was one closer to me because el pollo loco is getting old. As for all this "anti-gay" crap, you have yet to prove any of your pathetic ranting. Just because they are religious and don't run around wearing rainbow colors doesn't mean they can't make a great sandwich. I have no problem with gays or lesbians but I'm sick of crap like this where you spread lies and hatred for no good reason, all the while pretending to be the victim! So I'm going to be going to Chick-fil-a today and be thinking of you.

  2. I think I'll drive an hour out of my way on Saturday just to eat there and hopefully break a picket line or two.

  3. I wont be eating there regardless...I LOVE chick-fila but eating there makes me fat which in turn makes gay men protest me. It's just a no-win situation all around both politically and socially. HEY GAY GUYS, I lost another 5 pounds last week! I am almost good enough for you guys to like me again! YAY!

The next time anyone gives you excuses for supporting an anti-gay business such as Chick-fil-A, tell them to watch this video. Because of donations from such businesses to anti-gay organizations, they're able to spew hate propaganda and that gives children the message that gays are less than them and thus, the gay kids get bullied. Jamey was only 14 years old when he took his life. How does your chicken taste now?

  5. Really, JOE, and all you who continue to eat at CHICK-FILA, you have no problem with their anti-gay stance? You are pathetic and arrogant.

  6. As a gay man I want to point out that we also need to fight LOGO for the unfair portrayal of gay men by scum on the show “The A-listers”. They perpetuate the stereo type giving opponents of EQUALITY such an abundance of ammunition

  7. Christians = some of them are anything but.

It would be worth a short trip to hell to watch them burn and burn and burn.

I wouldnt take a dump in that place. Unless i could get away with tossing it into the chicken roaster.

then some lucky person could sue them for millions.

BTW if they sold hamburg, I'd watch out - Maggie Gallagher might be making it

She is just another mad cow victim. Protects marriage by having 2 illegitimate children.

And nowhere is her rumored hubby to be seen. Word on the street is he is black. And of course most of the really bad haters are right wing xtians who also hate blacks, gave us slavery segregation and the KKK.

Thanks to the unnamed person who pointed out she is a mad cow. I thought pig was more appropriate - I stand corrected

As for her catholic church that also hates gay marriage, the truth about the church of the endless hidden molestation goes far beyond hatred of gays.

  8. I sincerely love the gay community. I support you on most of your key platforms. Several of my gay friends are on their (crystal embossed) soap boxes and riled up about Chick-fil-a so close to their home turf...

I think you are all wrong on this issue.

This is a PRIVATELY owned company. These are not people that preach hate. I agree that the Cathy family are PASSIVELY (they do not publish anti-gay statements, for example)opposed to homosexuality based on their religious beliefs - they are a very conservative Christian denomination of Baptists and have given political contributions to groups that support the 'traditional' family.

Keep in mind that Christianity is not the only religion that has these views opposing homosexuality (though not all segments of Christianity practice this bias - example the United Methodist Church in Hollywood has that wonderful red ribbon tribute that overlooks the heart of Hollywood) but it is the one that is always attacked for it. But do you know what the punishment is for being homosexual in an Islamic country?

We might not like that followers of various religions hold these beliefs that are inherently discriminatory but they have the protected right to worship and believe as they wish.

Just like you, personally, have the right to chose NOT to spend your money at Chick-fil-a.

There is an In-N-Out Burger not a quarter of a mile away - though my vegetarian self is inclined to protest people eating there too...

but I acknowledge that though I find the eating of animals morally abhorrent - you have the right to do so...

Am I mixing too many metaphors there?

  9. A personal business is established with one's own beliefs. Even if what the few of you are saying is true, it's a restaurant. Period. People go there for food; supply and demand. The food tastes better and is healthier than that of most fast food establishments. The bottom line for business is quality of goods and service. Yes I enjoyed the food but what really surprised me was the employee's nice and positive attitude. As to them supporting anti-gay legislature I could care less to be honest. When they start supporting abortion maybe I'll find a new place...oh wait that's right they're Christian that's not going to happen. F.Y.I. Just because they want to change legislature to make it how it was meant to be does not mean they don't respect gays as people.

  10. The irony is that we see (presumably str8) soldiers dancing with each other in musical videos they put online all the time.
