North Carolina House Panel Approves Anti-Gay Marriage Amendment, Sends to House Floor
The North Carolina House will consider a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage after it was approved by a House panel today, the AP reports:
"The House Rules Committee approved Monday the question after about a half-hour of debate. The full House was expected to take up the matter later in the day. Three-fifths of the House members must vote yes twice on the measure before it can move on to the Senate."
No comment was allowed from the public. Democrats say it is being "rushed through".

glad to see the GOP still focused on jobs and the economy...cretins. What a waste of space.

This is what Log Cabiners and GOprouders vote for, not necessarily for what's happening in NC but the fact that they vote for the GOP, equally as bad. Disgusting to put it mildly.

if you live in North Carolina...if you live in the United States you have to be worried that they are supressing democracy...this is socialism....when laws are passed with no public discourse and just a few power hungry men and women.

I grew up in SC just 30 minutes from the SC/NC border. I'm amazed that anyone is surprised when either state engages in 19th century thinking. They'll be the two hold-outs when the other 48 states have government-recognized gay marriage.
