Prop 8 Supporters, Opponents Face Off Before Yesterday's Hearing: VIDEO

Protests

Videographer and activist Sean Chapin documented the 'for' and 'against' action before yesterday's California Supreme Court hearing on 'standing' in the Prop 8 case. It's always amazing to me how much hate (above) people can have in their hearts.

  1. We need more speakers like the man in this video. He gave me excited chills down my spine of enthusiasm and hope. This is the guy that HRC should hire to replace Joe Solmonese.

  2. Well, I think that Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has made it clear what a Christian marriage really is.

  3. That quotation from Matthew 19, in its true context, is about Jesus saying men should not put away their wives except for fornication...so I look forward to these people drawing up a ballot measure to ban divorce. Oh, right.

  4. I've said this time and time again. We've have full marriage equality in Canada since 2005 and none of the things that the "pro-marriage" people have predicted have come true. If anything, full marriage equality has strengthened the institution.

  5. Gay people have been able to marry for years now in several states and countries. By now there must be thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of married gay couples. I want to ask these people, "Is your marriage worse off in ANY way that can be attributed to those marriages? Did you feel 'a disturbance in The Force' when those couples said their vows or did you not notice at all?"

That's just it, all their claims are based on airy-fairy religious BS. They can't even explain how this magical 'destruction of marriage' is supposed to come about. "Just because!" isn't a legal argument.

  6. I just " love" the god sign in the picture.

Regardless if you believe in god or not, we're talking about man's laws, not god's laws. These crazy bible-thumpers are mentally ill.

  7. I am the speaker here, and it was a good rally but sadly not nearly enough LGBT people showed up. We need our own community to understand that they are still second class citizens and will be until we find the time and desire to stand up and fight back. MLK said "We will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." My friends do not be silent. Join us and speak up, speak out for your relationships, your families and your rights. Join me at GetEQUAL and Marriage Equality USA.

  8. the fact that none of the anti-Equality signs is coming from a place of calm logical reality without a religious bent speaks volumes.

great, you people have an uneducated religious objection to something. this is about as relevant as jews and muslims protesting the eating of porn by gentiles.

you can't come out with religious objections to something that has nothing to do with religion.

so, thanks for proving us all right.

  9. @Gigi I really think opponents to gay marriage have deluded themselves enough to think we make Canada up or that it doesn't exist; Gay Marriage and Universal Healthcare? No not possible in their minds.
