VIDEO: Rick Santorum Menaced by Wet Gay Soldiers

Picture 16
Rick Santorum was on Fox News Sunday this morning, where his conversation with anchor Chris Wallace strayed to the subject of gay men showering with straight men in the military.

The thought of it makes Santorum uncomfortable:

"The problem is that sexual activity with people who you are in close quarters with who happen to be of the same sex is different than being open about your sexuality," Santorum said on "Fox News Sunday."

Fox host Chris Wallace pushed back, asking Santorum if he was suggesting gay soldiers would "go after" their colleagues.

"They're in close quarters, they live with people, they obviously shower with people," Santorum said, saying the presence of gay soldiers could have an adverse "effect on retention and recruitment."

Let's run a thought experiment. Suppose Santorum can choose between two shower rooms, each filled with 100 naked, sudsy men. In the first room, there are five homosexuals, but Santorum doesn't know which ones they are. In the second room, there are also five homosexuals, but Santorum knows exactly who they are. In which room does Santorum feel the most comfortable? Which does he choose?

Then Wallace, who can be hard-nosed with Republicans and Democrats alike, sprung a trick question:

Wallace played a clip of Santorum insisting during a recent Republican primary debate that the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" was an improper injection of "social policy" into the armed forces. Wallace then presented a quote from a former military official to Santorum and asked whether he agreed with its basic idea: "The army is not a sociological laboratory. ... Experiments ... are a danger to efficiency, discipline and morale and would result in ultimate defeat."

Santorum, looking uncomfortable, said that he did agree with the general idea of the statement. Wallace then revealed that the quote was from Colonel E.R. Householder, a World War II-era official whose comments were made in opposition to the racial integration of the military.

Oh, snap!

Santorum tried valiantly to squirm his way out of the trap. He insisted homosexuality is not like skin color because it's a "behavior" and not an irrevocable biological fact. Santorum didn't cite any specific scientific evidence, aside from "studies out there," and I'm guessing he's never heard of the twin studies.

Watch, AFTER THE JUMP...

  1. the most disturbing part to him is that his opinion DOESN'T MATTER. The wisdom of our leader overlooked non-sensical thoughts such as Santorum. Homophobic and racist people will find themselves orphaned with their diatribes.

  3. The straight guys I know (who have big cocks) don't mind at all showing them off in the showers in front of anybody. This leads me to believe that Santorum has a very tiny penis, of which he is deeply ashamed. No wonder he fixates on being seen naked, even though he's really the only one who cares about his shortcomings. Too bad a tall man with little hands and a tiny cock.

  4. Isn't it possible that Senator Santorum just thinks gay marriage and gays in the military are bad ideas for society? There doesn't have to be some deep secret motivating everyone who takes these positions. And I don't see how being consistent in his positions on these issues makes the Senator "obsessed." I have an interest in LGBT issues myself even though I am a social conservative - that's why I read Towleroad and other gay websites. Does this mean I'm presumed to be a closeted lesbian?

If you want to go after Santorum there are better ways of doing it than questioning his sexuality. I admit that he hasn't been doing a good job of reprenting his own case. There are many good essays, books, and websites that give the anti-gay equality position in an impressive way. Why the Sentaor doesn't quote one of these sources I can't understand. Instead he babbles incoherently about napkins and paper towels and sets himself up for ridicule.

  6. Santorum is upset because the guys laughed at his little weewee when he showered with the gang. Ever since, he hates gays. Such a sad situation for him.

  7. This man is a "has been"..he is still trying to get his 15 min of fame, but he keeps on sticking his foot in his mouth..he has nothing to contribute to the national political agenda, so he is continuing to harp on the one thing that most of the other candidates have moved on from..and that is the DADT issue. He obviously has not been to a military barracks lately because he would find out that most barracks have college style living quarters with either individual bathrooms or shared bathrooms with individual shower stalls. This man will never ever occupy the residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

  9. LOL. Oh snap!

It baffles me when straight men are too dumb to realise they have been showering with gay men literally their ENTIRE LIVES. What, are you so insecure, that you literally need the entire 'showering system' to change and be remodeled just to assuage your paranoia? Stop being such a princess - just shut up, take your damn shower, and get dressed!

  10. I think miss santorum dreams about hunky wet soldiers in a huge open shower room with her in the center singing 'take my hand I'm a stranger in paradise.' She has issues!

  11. Senator Santorum is painfully ignorant on issues involving sexual orientation. Kudos to Chris Wallace for challenging him on his lame assertions.
