  1. I continue to be sad by Jacob Rogers' suicide, and all other teenage suicides. But I am not surprised to find the issues in his life were more complicated than we may have first thought.

Earlier this year, I presided at a memorial service for a 16 year old male. He had come out to his family about 4 months before taking his life. Some folks in the local glbt community contacted me to see if his sexual orientation was a factor, and was he bullied. My own inquiries at the school and conversations with his family and friends indicated neither was a factor. Other things, unforeseen to all who loved him, were.

In no way am I diminishing bullying, only saying being a teenager (heck, being a human being at any age) can be complicated and overwhelming. So let's do our best to take care of each other.

  2. i don't understand why it should matter that more straight people would be "ok" with LGBT people having civil unions over marriages.

an opinion that is held by many, yet is still baseless and indefensible and devoid of logic, reason, rationale and intelligent explanation is still worthless and useless.

  3. I'm not at all surprised that the Navy kiss elicited ugly comments. If you look at any comment section on any mainstream news or gossip site about almost any gay celebrity, the vast majority ranges from common bigotry to straight up hate speech.

I have stopped reading any comment sections to do with gay people on mainstream sites because they are so disturbing. The sites should be weeding out the straight up death wishes at the very least.

On a lighter note, Lambert's boyfriend is adorable.

  4. As a gay man, I was offended by the manipulation behind the Navy kiss. It was organized by Obama and/or the military to prove a point and to try to put a spin on the repeal of DADT. This cynical exercise is what offended me. Oh, and did you notice how it was two women but not two men? How come two men weren't allowed to kiss?

I find it amazing that, in all the time that DADT has been repealed, not one male-male couple has been allowed to do a first kiss? Doesn't Obama want it to go out to the world?

  5. Jason, please provide the link to your own page or youtube video where we can see your same-sex kiss with your same-sex partner.

    URL, please?

as an OPENLY gay man i had no problem whatsoever with the kiss, because only insecure angry resentful-homosexuals had a problem with it.

So, Jason, why not provide us with the URL to your own page or video where you can show us a same-sex kiss yourself, rather than complaining that the couple kissing are both women.

    So, URL please?

  9. I have it on good authority that the Navy kiss was specifically chosen to be female-female and not male-male. Apparently, Obama did not want a male-male kiss to go out to the world. He didn't want the first same-sex Navy kiss to be between two men. Personally, I find this attitude insulting and discriminatory. It's one reason why I won't be voting for Obama next year.

As for Little Kiwi's insistence on seeing me kiss someone, darling, I would post the URL if I could...but it would be like casting pearls before swine.

    Posted by: jason | Dec 26, 2011 5:16:24 PM

  10. prove it, Jason. Citations to the "good authority" that proves it was chosen to be female-female.

    I call your bluff.

You can't post the url, Jason, because your dad won't let you.

but hey, you could always prove me wrong by posting the URL to your own video/webpage.

truly. rather than complaining about women kissing why not show us you kissing another guy? if liberals like me can do it, why can't you?

i call your bluff, coward. continuing to refuse to post the URL only proves me right :D

  11. Little Kiwi,

Maybe you could get the ball rolling by showing yourself kissing someone. How about a French kiss with a python?

  12. click my name and see not only me kissing my boyfriend, but the specific pro-LGBT work my straight liberal family members do.

that's because, unlike you, i have a pair of testicles and a spine.

you claim to have inside info about the lesbian kiss. citations, please.

and the URL to your own page or youtube video where you show yourself kissing your boyfriend, and perhaps a glimpse of the fantastic pro-Equality work that your conservative parents are doing for you and the community.

after all, I can do it. why can't you?

    URL, please.

  13. @Jason:"I have it on good authority that the Navy kiss was specifically chosen to be female-female and not male-male."

Unlike Little Kiwi, I don't care if you're commenting using your own name or a nym, but I am sincerely interested as to what the quoted "authority" is. Citation please? From whence was that information extracted?

  14. Guys, guys, guys,

I can't believe how naive some of you are. You keep insisting that liberals love us. Horse puckey. Liberals use us as stepping stones on their path to power. Why do you think Obama is attending gay fundraisers? It's not out of the kindness of his heart, I can assure you.

I simply point out that the Navy kiss between the females was given the green light by the powers-that-be. It was not the product of some random lottery as originally stated. Obama allegedly did not want the first kiss to be between two men, and apparently put out a directive to that effect.

Yes, it's the ugly face - or should I say two faces - of liberalism, yet again. Liberals don't like us gay and bisexual men. In fact, they'll do anything to avoid us if it's in their interests.

    Posted by: jason | Dec 26, 2011 6:33:18 PM

  15. prove it, Jason, by providing the URL to your own page or video where you show us all how much your fellow Conservatives, including your own parents, support you as a gay man.

click my name and see what my straight liberal family and friends are doing for the LGBT Community. Prove your statements are true by posting the URL. each time you ramble from a place of anonymity you prove me right and yourself wrong.

so, provide the citations to the claims you're making. seriously, citations please.

and if possible you can do exactly what i've been doing - proving a URL which gives a face and name to what you say, as backup. those of us with the balls to live Openly have nothing to hide, after all.

click my name and see a world of pro-Equality liberals. i call your bluff, Jason.

prove me wrong by providing the URL to your own page/video.

  16. Jason, Jason, Jason.

Conservatives use us as a stepping stone to power too. Only, in their case, they actually intend to step on us, hold us down, knock us down, and, if possible, throw the stones at us until we die.

A Pres. Romney, Gingrich, Perry, Bachmann, or Santorum would have kept DADT in place and seen to it that these two women were dishonorably discharged.

If it had been two men, comments and reactions would still be negative, and you'd still be a shill for the Republicans. And I have that on good authority -- my own brain.

    Posted by: james | Dec 26, 2011 6:53:55 PM

  17. jason's intellectual dishonesty is actually good for a laugh.

    his "logic":
evil liberals want lesbians to be seen, and not gay males.
and conservatives wish their gay sons would commit suicide rather than continue to shame their families with their gayness.

and in jason's world, this makes conservatives better because they're honest about how much they resent having gay sons. or something.

oh well, thank God for my liberal family who are dedicating their lives to promoting LGBT Equality.

    werk.
p.s. here's what my straight sister and her straight husband, both liberals, did as a gesture of love for the LGBT community on their wedding day:

  19. A lot of you fail to understand the basis of liberalism. Liberals are about achieving power through lying to people. They've lied to us to achieve that power.

Obama, for instance, claimed that he was going to be our fierce advocate. He got our votes off that notion. What has he actually done? The repeal of DADT only went ahead because we gays became so outraged at the lack of Obama's leadership, the Democratic Party actually feared for its survival. Their fear of us prompted them to act.

As for why liberals prefer girl-girl over guy-guy kisses, it's because they are a movement driven by sexist heterosexual men with fetishes. The sexual revolution was a male heterosexual-driven movement. It entrenched the notion of woman as bisexual plaything for the benefit of sleazy straight guys. You only have to look at porn to see this. Hugh Hefner was one of the biggest supporters of the sexual revolution for this very reason.

I can only beg you to wake up to yourselves. Liberals are evil liars who hate us.

  20. prove it, Jason. i'm a liberal, as are my family members. click my name/link to see our work and words in action.

it's your turn to do the same. provide the URL of yourself and your family to back up your claims.

you can't do this, of course. you need to pretend liberals are the enemy because it's the only way you can trick yourself into realizing that your father wishes you weren't his son.

prove it, Jason. citations and a URl to your own page/video.

    ;-)

Posted by: Little Kiwi | Dec 26, 2011 7:16:17 PM

  21. And yet more baseless assertions. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

We're awaiting your evidence Jason. Unless you pull it out of your colon. You can keep it to yourself in that case.

    Posted by: sylvatica | Dec 26, 2011 8:45:35 PM

  24. Now, now, JASON/RICK is entitled to opinions and points of view, no matter how odd, ill-informed, irritating, or flat-out ridiculous they (almost always) are. Although, now that I think about it, maybe that's one entitlement I could get behind removing.

    Posted by: TJ | Dec 26, 2011 9:13:17 PM

  25. Take your bat and ball and go home, then. Many of you are just cowardly gay guys who refuse to face the truth about liberalism. Liberals were never on your side. All they want is to use you for political reasons.

I think a lot of you enjoy being discriminated against so long as it's a liberal doing the discriminating. That's why you've accepted the directive that Obama allegedly made to prevent a male-male kiss from being the first Navy kiss.

Many of you are losers and Uncle Toms. You don't care about gay rights. You care merely about going to a bar on Saturday night and finding someone to have sex with. So long as liberals keep allowing you to do this, you'll support them even if they discriminate against you in the ways I've mentioned previously.
